ILR and Travel insurance

I had a loop recorder (ILR) due to unexplained faint in July, have been fine since, only picked up one episode of heart stopping for 4 seconds since having it fitted, now trying to get travel insurance, but because I do not have a diagnosis I am being told I can not purchase travel insurance, has anyone else had this problem and how can you solve it, the ILR can be there for years without picking anything up does this mean I will never be able to travel abroad again.

Thank you for your reply have tried Avanti but they will not insure me because I do not have a diagnosis, have tried two other companies as well, they will ensure me but will not cover anything to do with ILR until I have been diagnosed

We have opted for AllClear for our forthcoming holiday to Egypt. It was more expensive than our previous insurers (Staysure) but they were very thorough when asking about our medical histories so that they could provide the right cover for us. My husband has had a replacement aortic valve for 15years, had 2 strokes 13 years ago and survived a cardiac arrest in March this year. His specialist has given him a fit to fly letter. I also had a stroke a few years ago.

Good luck in your search, it can be stressful.

I have a loop recorder and we are going to Australia at Christmas we have insurance with explorer insurance and I haven’t got a proper diagnosis either. There were more insurance companies that would cover me as well when I looked on the travel insurance compare site.

I found most of them would insure me , I did put benign arrhythmia as the

diagnosis.

it may be that it is more difficult to get insurance within 1 year of your problem and diagnosis, but that it gets easier after next June as long as you have no further hospotail admissions

I too had a loop recorder fitted in July and still don't have a diagnosis as yet. I am going to Gran canaria in December and got my travel insurance through AllClear. I told them I have heart palpitations and have a loop recorder fitted to try and get a diagnosis. There was no issue with me getting cover, I was so relieved as first time travelling abroad 4 yrs. Good luck!

thank you for your reply, I have tried All Clear but they turned me down because of diagnosis, i to suffer with palpitations so perhaps if I tell them, it might change things, anything is worth a try as we like to winter in the Canaries for at least 6 weeks.
