I’ve been told heart rate in your sleep can vary a lot, as you are going through different sleep cycles, dreaming etc. Depends what you mean by high, and whether you have any symptoms or is just because your watch told you? I’ve had mine go up to 150 while sleeping, sometimes it wakes me other times it doesn’t. Apple Watches are good bits of technology but can sometimes give you too much information! I have one too, I bought one as I get high heart rates at random. It’s great for confirming when I do have an episode, but I try to ignore any anomalies if I otherwise feel fine!
So during the day my heart rate averages around 56 BPM . Last night I recorded up to 90 BPM.
My sleep has been poor since being in hospital in April being treated for a heart attack .I go to sleep ok but wake several times a night . I have gone through sleep hygiene methods nothing seems to help.
That’s quite a difference, definitely worth a chat with doctor as a minimum. Sleeps so important maybe they can help with that too.
A week of results will help a doctor take seriously. The good thing with the Apple Watch is you can show the doctor. Some doctors may not accept but I would hope none would ignore.
Let us know how you get on. Someone with more experience should be along soon and be able to better help.
hi. Mine does that all the time but I have mild sleep apnoea and wake up probably once an hour. I have a Fitbit and it’s become a bit of a curse really as I check it all of the time. My heart rate can go to 120 in my sleep but overall it hovers at a 65bpm average throughout the day on 7.5mg if bisoprolol. Xx
Hi, mine goes up from the high 50’ s during the day to mid 70/80,s at night. Not all the time but I can recognise the trends.
In my case this is due to several reasons - if I’m dehydrated, if I drink alcohol or if I’m under the weather. Recent vaccinations ( I’ve had 4 in the last 4 weeks) have also significantly impacted on my blood pressure. I guess it’s the bodies way of coping with the changes. If you have poor sleep patterns and you wake up, this creates a reaction which impacts on your blood pressure.
It might be helpful to try and analyse if you have any factors which influence your body. I use a Fitbit, it’s more of a way identifying patterns than being 100% accurate.
It is known that smart watches, can cause health anxiety. I sold mine, because there was no point in letting it worry me, which it did. In fact, it says, as regards sleep, they aren’t always accurate anyway. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you’ll know, because you’ll be tired, don’t need a watch to tell you that. If you want to check your heart, you can always get a portable monitor. I have an EMay one. You can print out the ECG to show your Doctor.
