high resting heart rate : hi guys back... - British Heart Fou...
high resting heart rate
thanks for replying .(as you usually do ) today was the first time that a doctor has requested that I put in a sputum sample .and the first time I have had a face to face .I was starting to get paranoid that valve problem was returning I’ll just have to wait on results .thanks again for the reassurance on heart rate
Tachycardia ( fast heart rate) can be a common manifestation of Covid induced myocarditis and this can take months to settle.
Did you do a RAT at any stage?
I had a heavy cold last week amd my normal resting rate of 55/60 went up to 80 constantly
You need to tell your doctor to stop with the constant anti biotics. And move on from that. I had to tell mine in no uncertain terms that what was happening was not normal for me and I was sent to hospital that minute for XRays and blood tests. I had pneumonia.
I’ll try this latest course and if it doesn’t work I’ll see what my options look like thanks for getting back to me
I went to A and E they told me I had hayfever took some X-rays this was on a Sunday with a better inspection of the the x Ray a few days later they discovered pneumonia
So sorry to hear you have pneumonia when I had it, my heart rate would go upto 180 just from coughing! So I hope your ok??
yep I hit close to that I was 135-150 for 3 days in hospital 178 the highest I still think it’s behind my breathless issues now
sorry to hear that .it would seem to be that the doctors nowadays just want to give out a packet of pills and hope for the best .

I was neurotic 2 week ago as very similar to you with a rumbling infection that made my heart rate increase above my normal and blood pressure higher to . I’d also used my GTN spray a few times that I’d not needed for months.
I have a wonderfully supportive Gp who checked me out and reassured me that it was likely to happen if I’m unwell. But to return , call 111 or go to A+E if needed .
It’s gradually settled and now back to normal. I’m also sure my Apple Watch readings increased my anxiety. Hope your better soon
A normal heart rate is up to 100 beats per minute. That does not mean that a heart rate of 100 or 90’s should be ignored .
When the heart rate increases, it’s normally because your body is fighting against something. In your case it’s infection.
The fact that the antibiotics appear not to be clearing up the infection, is probably the reason why your heart rate is abnormal compared to your usual heart rate.
Now that the doctor has requested a sputum sample, you will get the correct antibiotic for the bacteria causing you problems. In a day or two, you should notice a difference in your heart rate. However, it’s important to keep your doctor informed if you are still experiencing symptoms and not improving.
Hope you feel better soon.
