Hi all, suddenly started with abnormally high heart rate since I was out on emtb bike on Saturday, I did try to keep heart rate up on the bike for fitness but did find more fatigue than usual (140-155) over 20 miles, but went for short walk on pretty much flat ground yesterday for under two miles and heart rate sat at 150-160bpm over whole walk, then today did a mile and averaged 150bpm on gentle walk?
Not sure if I’ve disturbed something whilst was biking at the weekend, haven’t felt 100% since,I do get fluttering type feeling which is strange , I do normally have chest aches and breathlessness especially if going upstairs etc but never had heart rate as high doing so little but have no angina unlike before last two stents done , I have had 5 stents over 7 angiograms in nearly 4 years since my MI,
Anyone had get or had similar ?

If you’re looking at smart watch of some description, I would highly recommend taking your heart rate manually - the same as with bp, take 3 readings spaced a few minutes apart.
If your heart rate is still that high whilst pottering around the house and you’re still not feeling right, it might be wise to call 111 for some advice. Better to be safe than sorry if it’s still ongoing; please let us know the outcome of your manual readings and how you get on.
Sometimes when I am walking hard my heart rate spikes to stratospheric heights according to my Fitbit watch, when I check my pulse the old fashioned way I find that I am being lied to by my watch and my HR is actually quite reasonable.Take care.
If you have had Covid recently - in the last 3 months - check with your GP to see that you have not developed late onset myocarditis which can be delayed and with very few symptoms- a rapid heart rate, arrhythmias and chest pain being the commonest. You GP will do a blood tgest and ECG to find out
This is precisely what happened to me. I’d go out on the bike, would usually start ok and then my HR would rise to 140 BPM and just sit there. With the help of a Kardia device I was diagnosed with AF. I had an Ablation just before Christmas. On Sunday I ran the Brighton half (gently). So my experience says get a Kardia device and that will assist you having a more knowledgeable conversation with your Dr or Cardiologist. Good Luck.
I had high heart rate over flat walks for weeks before I found I had atrial flutter.A fast but regular rythmn.Mine was laced with the ectopics too which made me believe it was a fib all through the pandemic so diagnosis was near impossible but once I had a hospital ecg that showed flutter.
I would get it checked out if it happens again or call 111. It could be atrial fibrillation and there are ways and means to resolve this. I fell into this last year and ended up in hospital for a couple of days where it was sorted. Since then no other events . Got be careful and keep a check on it. My Fitbit was reading exactly the same as heart monitor in hospital. I think over exertion caused this with me. I'm now doing mainly cardio workouts which can peak a high rate at times but I can pace myself if needs be. Let us know if you get this again.
