I had a heart attack just overt 12 month s ago. I've been told by my GP to only stop tricagrelor. I don't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol but l still have to take Bisoporol, Rampiril, aspirin and Antrorvastatin l just don't understand why l still need to be taking them. Does that mean l will have to take these indefinitely? It seems like a one treatment for all approach. Could anybody give me some advice please, thanks!

Hi, you’re right, those are standard meds for all. After my HA I stopped Bisoprolol and Ramipril within a month as my heart rate is always slow and my bp normal. Statins are a given for life as they don’t just lower cholesterol and aspirin also but I’d talk to your gp about the other two or your cardiologist if you have one.

I agree with the above from NannyPat1. I had quadruple bypass July 25th this year . Bisoprolol reduced from 3.75 to 1.5 then I asked to try 2.5 as I noticed my BP rising to high normal. I’m on clopidogrel for 1 year , pantaprazole , artovastatin and aspirin . My caridiac surgeon stopped my amlodipine and recommended I take low dose of rampiril in the future ( stop bisoprolol).

I’m sure with further discussion with your GP you could trial coming off /reducing and monitoring BP , and have cholesterol checked 6 months /annually?

Hi monkey , I've just passed my HA 1 year anniversary, 8/10/22 , I'm now off ramipril 1.25mg twice a a day and clopidrogel .still on aspirin, lansaprozle, bisoprolol and atorvastatin . Going on my hols in Nov but when I'm back I'll be speaking to my doctor about lowering the atorvastin or changing it due to side effects and possible other side effects. I came off ramipril as my BP was going to low , been fine since .Maybe worth speaking to your doc about coming off/ reducing the ramipril if your BP is fine .

Good luck

Hi. I had a SCA and HA 5 years ago now. Pretty much undiagnosed (normal everything) and could have something to do with my Elhers Danlos (long story). Because of the unknown element I am on what I call 'just in case ' meds.Ivrabradine, Eplerenone, Losartan, Rosuvastatin, (all low dose) Asprin as well as Lanzoprozole (also Painkillers and Paracetamol for the EDS). It took about 18 months of trial and error to settle on these.

I have normal cholesterol, 128/88 and resting HR 55. My hr never gets above 120 on exercise (which is limited). On the face of it, there is nothing wrong but the stents say different.

There are a couple that I think I can do without but I'm only worried about the effect on my stomach lining atm and its fine.

I always hated taking tablets but they are my insurance policy until my body tells me different but I have 'other eggs to fry'! Try not to worry.

I'm on Rosuvastatin, Losartan, Ticagrelor, Aspirin, Lansoprazole, Bisoprolol, Ezetimibe and Felodipine.

Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe are to control cholesterol levels, Bisoprolol, Losartan, Aspirin and Felodipine to control BP, Lansoprozole to protect my stomach and the Ticagrelor is to prevent blood clots in the first 12 months post operation, I'll stop that next June.

I don't tolerate Ramipril or Atorvastatin (hence Losartan and Rosuvastatin) but, apart from the Ticagrelor, I expect the drugs to remain pretty much the same for the rest of my life.

My lipid (cholesterol) levels are within tolerance and require no further action and my BP is under control.

I just have to accept that these represent life going forward, literally, as without them I'd be in trouble with my BP or cholesterol levels and that could be life ending.
