Hi not sure where else to turn with this but is there an innocent explanation for this its happend twice? Has anybody else experienced this ( I am on verapamil 40mg x2 have been for 2 years, mirtazapine since April, and recently fluoxicillin for infection) is this a possible side affect of any of these? Or is there more too it like maybe affecting my kidneys?? As you can see anxiety is through the roof 🙈🙁.
Foamy urine? : Hi not sure where else... - British Heart Fou...
Foamy urine?
Very unlikely that it is a side effect of Verapamil as I take that too and have not seen it listed as a side effect. If you’re experiencing this regularly, which is everyday, then you need to see your GP as it maybe a case that your kidneys are releasing protein into your urine and if you’ve googled it, then you’ll know it is not normal. Monitor it over the course of this week. If it is happening more often on an everyday basis, contact your GP. Many times, things tend to be a lot less worse than what they actually are and this could just be a small blip. Try not to worry. Feel better soon x
Thanks tos x it's only happend twice and i hope it isn't to do with my kidneys because that wouldn't be good. I do have swelling ii legs and feet alot just lately and it's definitely not the heat 🔥🤔. I hope it passes 🙈.
hi Yumz. Sorry to hear that you are feeling poorly. Lots of things can cause foamy pee, like a uti, but it’s best to get it checked. I think antibiotics can cause cloudy pee and it could be something to do with the fluoxicillin but you should check it with your gp as, like Tos says, it can also be caused by protein in your pee. Try not to worry but go and get it checked to put your mind at ease. Xx
I would also try ringing gp maybe bring a specimen with you. Could be antibiotic effect uti or something as simple as the speed of which your urinating, that too can cause bubbles like washing up liquid. Happened to me a few times. Try not to worry and bell gp when you can and drink plenty of water.
Good morning Yumz199725. Quickest way is to check with your chemist. They will tell you if its a side effect of medication quicker than getting a doctors appointment. Hope you get some answers. Brian
as mentioned above frothy urine can be a sign of protein in your urine - this is not normal - peeing too fast is not really enough to make it look like washing up foam!
coupled with the swelling in your ankles i would urge prompt contact with your GP surgery and at least a phone chat with GP or Practice Nurse - there is a simple "dipstick" test which can show whether or not there is need for further investigation (blood test usually) - be prepared to collect a small sample
you local pharmacy might be able to do a disptic test, check with them
If 2 days try ring gp, it's best to be on the safe side and rule out protein and uti too and all other things mentioned in the thread by everyone. I mentioned speed of urinating as this was a cause for me on one occasion with the pressure. Hope things settle down, best of luck 🤞
Either the infection or the antibiotics can cause foamier urine. It could also be caused by certain food , drink or supplements that you may have had over the last few days.
Did the swelling in your feet and ankles happen at the same time as the infection?
If the infection was a UTI or in your kidneys it can happen because you can often retain water because of higher salt or sugar content.
Has your infection cleared up?
Do you have any other symptoms like pain when going to the toilet or in the lower back?
It's probably worth going to see the GP to be retested and make sure you have cleared your infection.
Try drinking more water , reducing sodium and sugar in your diet and keeping your legs raised when you sit down to help reduce the swelling.
Doing gentle rotation exercises of the ankles and feet a few times a day can also help improve the circulation and relieve swelling and water retention.
Hope you feel better soon , Bee
I have been getting pain in my lower back x but I just thought that was normal. I am going back tomorrow because my infection in my foot hasn't cleared up.
You can occasionally get a mild case of thrush, or increase of yeast in your system after taking antibiotics because of how they alter your gut balance and sugar levels . That can also cause foamy wee and lower back pain so it may be worth asking about that and getting a one capsule treatment of Canasten from the GP.Did you have Cellulitis?
I think I did yeah I still have it, still have pains in my legs and they tingly, the back pain came long before infection x probably just dehydrated cause its really dark aswell not foamy today though which is good. X
Yes, you need a dip test to be sure.Cellulitis can take some time to clear up and take a few courses of antibiotics.
The tips I gave you above will help to speed up the recovery from the cellulitis because helping to drain the fluid from your ankles will remove the toxins.
Increase your vitamin C as well .
It would also be worth asking the GP for a cream as well as antibiotics to help improve things.
Thanks hun x my ankles are ok at the moment just my legs that hurt.
If you've got swollen legs that are hurting or feel tight then you really should speak to your GP about it xx
Yeah my legs are hurting all the time just lately so frustrating and I know if I mention to consultant they will say its muscle pain but it's so not I get sharp pains like a dull ache x
I would keep a dairy of when your legs are hurting, how long for, what your activity had been that day, i.e had you been exercising, lots walking, running, etc or if it was a sofa day. Plus I would measure your legs when you wake up & before you go to bed but measure them in at least 2 different places. If you press your finger into your leg does it leave an indentation? X
The only thing that gives you foamy urine is Dapagliflozin or if you dont flush the toilet after putting bleach down it. I mentioned my foamy urine to my Diabetic/Heart nurse and she told me other users had also noticed the same!
