Hi all, I had HA oct 21 and cardiologist suggested I take dapagliflozin which would give me a "long and healthy life". I stopped it dec due to several uti and increased urine output. I am now up around 15 times in night to pass urine and also excessive thirst. My dr has done all tests for diabetes to no avail. I am exhausted with broken sleep each night. She has now given me meds to relax my bladder muscle which aren't effective as yet. I also had to come off statins due to deranged liver, hospitalized for 10 days. Has anyone else suffered from these side effects? Thankyou.

Dapagliflozin and increased urine output.
Hi, I had a HA on 25th Oct, I jave also been given Dapa. Intially it was difficult and I was waking up a few times at night. Slowly it has stabilised and now I wake up maybe once early morning. But I do not drink as much water as I used to before HA.
Hi cedar0902. I thought I had problems sometimes getting up 2/3 times, I would suggest you get checked for uti & ask are you following & not increasing your daily amount of fluids ? I am on dapa I take it in the morning don’t have any new problems as such, I try not to drink fluids after 7 and if I do I have caffeine free hope that helps worth a try !!
Crikey!! Just about to start Dapa today - not looking forward to this…I’m already up once a night due to my Eplerenone ☹️
I had huge problems exactly like yours when I started dapa. I stopped taking it and night time constant urination lasted a couple of weeks then ceased. I started again and same thing. Left it for 2 months and started again and it hasn’t happened this time. My worst problem with it has been dreadful back and flank pain/ache. This time round it started to subside after about a month of extreme discomfort.GP said he’s come across the back issues a number of times recently and was baffled at first but has seen a pattern that it’s the dapa causing it
Hi I’ve been on dapagliflozin since February 2021 & Eplerenone since 2020. I take these tablets at around 11am & I’ve not had any excessive urination issues, it’s only the furosemide that does that to me ! I do get back ache on standing for a while though.Try changing the time of day you take your tablets. It’s difficult to get the balance of fluid intake, too much you get water retention & thirsty……too little & you end up with a UTI, it’s a no win situation! 🤷♀️
