I experienced a heart attack in mid-July and had a stent placed. I’m currently on a statin, a beta blocker, and four other medications. I recently had a blood test, which showed an increase in my Serum Total Protein and ALT level compared to the previous two tests. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m unsure if this is related to my medications or something else.

Increased Serum Total Protein
Hi, I had heart attack at the end of August, had two Stents put in, I'm also on Statins, beta blockers plus other medication. My Serum bilirubin are a bit high after Blood test. Everything else is ok. Been told that there is nothing to worry about but I have an appointment with doc in November. So we shall see.
best to discuss abnormal blood tests with a peofessional
If this is liver tests then ask to chat to Dr,they apparently allow a certain level of abnormality
The liver metabolises a lot of different drugs and can be affected. I’m on a few drugs and have those levels tested regularly. I was referred to a hepatologist a few years ago, but eventually signed off. I would suggest it needs monitoring for now in case the drugs damage your liver.
hi
I am on the usual set of meditation after my triple bypass and I have the same situation with my liver tests.
I was monitored for three months and the results varied only slightly
Given they were not getting worse and they were elevated as compared to my previous results the doctor went through their flow chart and determined I had Gilbert’s syndrome and told me the slightly elevated results are nothing to worry about.
But given Gilbert’s syndrome is hereditary and is variable, I am pretty sure it is the statins 🙄
Of course you're on a statin. Everyone gets put on a statin notwithstanding. I wonder why that is... 🤔
As well as being on Heart Meds I also have Liver Cirrhosis from former bad habits. I Have a Liver Function Test every 6 months. Due to the meds I'm on this has become increasingly important. Levels do tend to fluctuate on medication as it's down to the Liver to metabolise.
Be interesting to see what your levels are.
After 10 years of Cirrhosis I've become quite adept at knowing the meaning of my readings.
Suggest a long chat with GP and maybe a referral to a Hepatologist or Gastroenterologist if they have any concerns.
