Good morning all. As a brief summary I have severe LV impairment and HF with ICD fitted. I found out this week that my EF has fallen from 35 to 21%. I've been put on dapaglaflozin with epelerone to follow. I work 25 hrs per week but feel it might be wise to drop to 20 hrs. Any advice about applying for PIPS from our generous DWP would be hugely appreciated 🙏

PIPS and heart failure
Hi Saltwaterman
Have a look at the link below. I believe you have to call to request a PIP form.
I’m sure there are other members on here who receive PIP and will be along with some more helpful advice.
All the best.

Hello
This is a good link and will give you a good idea if you would get it there is also as you read it a test to see what you would score points wise and so if you would be eligible
I hope it helps and let us know how you get on x
Hi Saltwater manYes apply but you need help in filling form in from someone who knows the rules They must take into account these things
1 Can you do things in a timely manner meaning does it take much longer than a normal person
2 Can you do it repeatedly ie several times a day
3 can you do it safely or are you at risk
And you need to stress this in every question in as much detail as possible even adding extra sheets at the end as they give you not much room
Send as much medical evidence as you can
If you are turned down you will get a copy of what marks you got for everything and you ask for a mandatory appeal and reply to all the question you don't agree with and it will be relooked at fairly quickly
But your best bet is someone to help you I think I read you can get help on line or there are some good videos on utube from experts or there is citizens advice or your hospital may have someone
Good luck
Hello,
I have been successfully awarded a PIP enhanced for both sections indefinitely.
This was not easily achieved.
From my experience the DWP assessment is about not having to award the benefit.
I suggest you get help to fill in the form.
I submitted 48 pages of extra documents. My relevant clinic letters, test results, hospital discharge summaries, prescription details.
There is an art to filling the form in. It's not about your heart condition, more about how your heart condition effects your day to day life, how it limits what you can do.
I used this organisation benefitsandwork.co.uk/perso...
They do charge a subscription of about £20. Personally I thought it was well worth the cost.
Citizens Advice is another option.
Make a copy of everything you submit to the DWP. Be prepared to make a mandatory review even be prepared to go for an appeal if you are unsuccessful.
Approx 70 % of appeals at tribunal are successful.
Good luck!
Thank you all for your replies. I found out last week about the reduction in my EF. Have been feeling less well since last summer and apparently my heart is now shaped like an orange instead of a lemon. Am waiting to see what the new meds achieve, but it's a worrying situation. Just trying to get things in place should things progress poorly 🙏
