Erectile Dysfunction/ Heart Failure

Just reading a different thread regarding Erectile Dysfunction and it started me wondering does Ejection Fraction play a part. Now I know that can lead to some smart answers just curious, if a low EF can be the cause of Erectile Dysfunction rather then a Mental issue.

Don’t worry about the Bisoprolol are you on Ramipril ? - this one relaxes blood vessels and potentially increases flow to private parts also .. I also read where statins help improve performance- so it’s not all bad

Or it could be a prostate issue!!

Losartan affected me so my GP prescribed the usual blue pill. He apologised for it being only one pill a week. I said that chance would be a fine thing. 😂

I've no known issues with EF, indeed my heart passed inspection with flying colours post HA, stents and bypass, so I can't offer an opinion on your question. However, my ED did improve once I'd been "fixed", so it would appear that there may be some correlation between heart performace and ED. I somehow doubt it has ever been the subject of a formal study.

Dear Prada47

Oh the unasked question that is on many minds both male and female, on the whole, libido can really be affected by the medication that we are on due to our heart problems.

You need to have a chat with your DR/heart team because believe me there is plenty of help out there for this.

When I suffered with it for a while my Cardiologist asked why I had not approached him earlier as it is a very known effect of the medication, both libido for both sexes and the erection problem with us men, and I answered that I felt a bit stupid talking about this after all that had been done for me. To which he replied that this was just a part of it that I didn’t need to put up with.

Of course after such a major operation I had all the usual doubts, will anyone find me attractive again? Will anything work again? Am I really to tied to do it ? Etc etc, but overall my sexual feelings had gone and I felt a little empty without them.

If you look down the list of side effects of the standard heart medication you will see that libido problem can be a big part of most of them. I knew that all was not right in that dept and got help for it.

The help I was given really worked and now I am back feeling the feelings that I did before this heart journey.

Sometimes its just about those feelings more than the actions.

Take care

I have had ED for years now the blue pill didn’t help, I am on so many pills the docs not sure if it’s just the mixture of them

Hi Prada. I have suffered from ED issues for years due to severe hypertension, a situation that was then made worse after a 2xCABG 2 years ago. I have never found viagra to work for me but Cialis always has. Over all the years I've had issues I've found that both my mental and physical state as well as my meds all have an effect. Best speak to your gp, I have always found them understanding over the years I have discussed ED with them.
