Car insurance
Hi, I had a sudden heart attack and stent almost five years ago. I’ve always been honest on my travel insurance but never thought I had to tell the driving insurance. Just not to drive for 4 weeks after the event.
Well, after googling 🙄 I got the answer off our own BHF site. Yes, we should inform the insurance company. I’m no good at links, sorry, but if you type “Driving with a Heart condition” into BHF you’ll find it there.
I told my car insurance firm. The person I spoke to said it wasn't necessary, but agreed to make a note.
Same here, my fiancé told the insurance company he’d been diagnosed with CAD and that he went on to have a bypass. They said they’d make a note and that was it (I made sure we wrote down the name of who we spoke to and time and date of call etc.)
I told mine after stents and bypass, was told I didn't need to and it would not make a difference to the cover/cost. They did then comment as long as I am following medical advice, which means not driving until you are cleared to drive. So I did not drive until the follow up where I was cleared to drive (rather than just after the 4 weeks).
I am having an ICD and that does require a driving lic change and I am sure the insurance company will want to know about it.
Thanks for all your advise I will let you know how I get on,thank you
