still waiting on a date for my ablation surgery. Its been just over 4 weeks since my pre-op. i was orginally told it would be august but not heard anything yet. Im stressing myself out because it the 6 weeks holidays and feel i cant plan anything just in case but as time goes on im going to lose the help from family etc beacuse of short notice. I contacted my community heart nurse about it as not been able to get hold of anyone at the hospital, so hopefully that helps.
sorry for the morning rant, had to release some stress. Hope everyone is ok.

Hi yes frustrating isn't it. Try phoning the admissions dep and asking them. I had to chase all mine.Unfortunately every strike he NHS suffers puts your procedure back by at least the same amount of days.
Hopefully you will hear soon and I hope its successful.
Very frustrating. I receive amazing care and the teams are great. I tried ringing everyone that's why I got my community heart nurse involved. Fingers crossed the wait isn't much longer. Thank you
That's my experience too. Wonderful care but terrible administration. I'd chase them, politely. I think they kind of expect it. Really hope you get clarity. It's so unsettling not knowing.
Hope you get a date soon as I don't think they like more than 4 weeks between pre-op and procedure. Luckily, my hospital sent me an appointment for the ablation with a pre-op appointment all in the one letter so I know when I'm having the procedure which is on 8 August barring any upsets.
I don't understand that. At my pre-op, they took blood tests including one to test my blood type in case I need a transfusion. They also did an ECG. How can a 'phone call do all that? Maybe you should question it, if you can get hold of anyone that is! I do hope everything resolves itself for you. Unfortunately, in today's world, we have to chase and question everything otherwise we wouldn't be told anything.
Yes I was confused as to why it was a telephone call. They sent me mrsa swabs to do and send back and paperwork to book my own blood work tests. Which I did. I've been chasing them for a while that's why I thought I'd ask my heart nurse as I kept getting the answer machine. I even tried calling the consultants secretary. I will try chasing again next week x
That sounds like self service. Put all the onus on you to sort out bloods and swabs when you don't need the aggro of booking everything. Still, at least those areas have been covered and maybe they'll do the ECG on the day before the procedure. Hope all goes well for you. Let us know how you get on x
It’s very frustrating depending on ops around this time of year but there’s always a team willing to go full force ahead. Try and keep someone on standby just in case. I hope you hear soon. All the best.
Hi there, I just read your bio and noticed you were diagnosed with DCM in 2021. Did your doctors ever identify the cause? Did you have any heart problems before then or did they suddenly start? I'm interested because in late 2021 I had a brief period of palpitations and was later diagnosed with PVCS and mild ventricular hypertrophy which the doctors say is common among men of my age and ethnicity. I'm not really convinced. I never had any heart related issues before 2021 at least none I was aware of anyway.
Hey. No known cause for my DCM. The symptoms came on all of a sudden. My GP kept dismissing it as asthma or gastroenteritis. Nothing before, was fit and healthy
