Question for the ladies of the group . For almost a week now I’ve had lots of pain by my pacemaker , it’s getting worse now and also causing pain at the top of my left arm too .I’m not sure if it’s just hormonal /menopause related . There’s no sign of infection by the pacemaker .I’ve had my pm since 2020

mine has moved so I often get discomfort especially under bra strap, feels a bit itchy and sticks out under my armpit!!! They’ve told me to come back if I can’t stand

I would contact your pacing clinic and speak to them.

I’m back next week and I was awake when he was burning on second attempt. First time I’ve seen him so should be interesting

I had a lead go through my heart wall just three days after having my pacemaker procedure , there’s a less then 3% chance of it happening , paramedics thought it could be a heart attack . Very traumatic time

oh ok I didn’t realise hope it all goes well for you 🤗

Could be scar tissue impeding the soft tissue. If doctor gives ok then I would suggest seeing a Physio. I have had several bouts of frozen shoulder because of scar tissue building around the implant but massage & Physio exercise sorted both episodes.

I agree you should ring your pacing clinic. They are usually very helpful and would want to know if you are having problems. I’m not saying it is this, but I’ve read about things like leads getting infected so it would be best to get it checked out. And I still get pain sometimes nearly four years on if the pacemaker moves about in its pocket. So there are lots of reasons for pain in that area. Hopefully it will settle down for you but I’d give them a call.

Thank you to everyone who replied , tonight my pacemaker is much more prominent than it usually is . If it’s still the sane tomorrow I’ll give the pacing team a call

I was advised by my GP that any Pacemaker pain I get, to go to the hospital and explain that there is nothing a GP can do it needs the Pacemaker Clinic to check it is working as it should. Then any problems can been sorted straight away.

I was always treated like that, but when rang pm clinic was advised to see Dr and get him to refer. Thank goodness I see EP next Thursday. Dread to think how long all that would have taken. 6-7 weeks for a Drs appointment

That's terrible. If I needed to I could see my GP the same day. I don't understand why take up a GP appointment when he can do nothing for you, only refer back to PM clinic. Why not just make you an appointment?

First time it has ever been suggested but as I say finally seeing EP who did AV node ablation next week so will go from there

I’m sorry to hear you’re getting pain. When I go swimming for a few days I get that pain. I did mention it to my cardiologist and he said my device is working ok and nothing showed up around that period and he left it at that.

Maybe you should record it and mention it to your Gp or cardiologist to be on the safe side. Our bodies and illnesses are all different. All the best.

Hi westie. I get a really aching feeling sometimes around my ICD and going up towards my shoulder. When I asked at my last pacing clinic, she said it's just what can happen sometimes. She said because the wires are thicker than we realize, it can happen.

Hi I get uncomfortable too sometimes and achy under my arm/armpit. I’m a bit scrawny too so my icd sticks out 😏. Hope you get it sorted X
