I had a pacemaker 8 weeks ago it feels that it’s moved when I lay down in bed I feel it digging in my lower shoulder and armpit and I Can get my fingers right under it if needed how easy is it to have it removed and redone. When he put it in he punctured my lung so I am so nervous about another procedure. I’ve had problems and chronic pain since my triple bypass in 2013 so I am very fearful as they said I was just very unlucky most are very successful !!!!!

pacemaker removal
Dear you,
What an awful time you are having of late and I really hope that they can get it sorted for you.
Your question is one I cannot answer as it needs someone with that skill set but if its any help I moved my pacemaker in its pocket so it was sticking out at 90% to my body!
After the initial shock of seeing this { larger than I thought } thing sticking out, I pressed the upper corner and it moved back, quick call to the rhythm nurse { sorry still doesn't sound right } I was told that the unit was working fine and just to keep an eye on the site.
Yours sounds like it needs more time for it to attach to the surrounding tissue as 8 weeks is not a longtime.
Call to your rhythm team / Heart team/ Drs will help settle your worries and hopefully give you some information after the bad time you have experienced.
Take care
Thank you for your response, I am going through an extremely bad time at the moment both mentally and physically and this seems to be the last straw can’t face another procedure I’ll just wait and see if it gets less uncomfortable, when your on your own all these little things are scary
I totally agree, but you are not alone, we are here for as long as you need us.
If your mental health is suffering { took me a long time to recognise this in myself } then contact your Dr as there is help out here.
Hopefully soon you will be offered Re-Hab and maybe that will help, I was put on the Steps To Wellbeing Program , which helped to reassure me that I also was not alone feeling like I do.
Take care
HI BLUE GP JUST WANTS ME TO HAVE ANTI DEPRESSANTS I do not want them they all come with added problems no rehab out there my major surgery was back in 2013 it’s only my pacemaker I’ve just had and no follow up for this. Just talking change therapy out there and I had that before my pacemaker ( no help)
It sounds like your GP is trying to help and does recognise your impaired mental health , its a discussion you need to have with Her / Him as they act as a gateway to other help.
In the mean time have you tried the site, Togeatherall ? its interesting how it works and you can join in as much as you need to, I know that some find it very helpful.
Take care
no I’ve never heard of it I’ll look it up thank you
hello Dogloverxthree. I had my defib implanted a little over three months ago. Thankfully I have not had any really issues with it. A little discomfort now and again but nothing to make me worry. The reason I am answering you though is to say. Have you had your first pacemaker check at your pacemaker clinic. As far as I aware you should have one within first 6-8 weeks. If you haven’t then mention your concerns to them. My experience is they are very helpful.
good morning, I had a check a couple weeks ago I mentioned my concern at the time that it felt as if it was moving, she was assisting at the procedure and did say it was A bit difficult which doesn’t happen often and I was in there a lot longer than I expected, he was pushing for ages to try and get it in and then my lung got punctured when they attached it but since then it has moved more, not bad pain just uncomfortable , she said to come back but I can’t face another procedure
Good morning Dogloverxthree. The fact you had the procedure done 8 weeks ago. You should be getting an appointment very soon to check everything is working OK with your pacemaker and you can mention about it has moved then. Or if you are worried. Just ring your pacemaker department and have a chat. Hope you come to terms with it all. And everything will be ok. Brian
