My update

Last October I decided to try a calorie controlled diet to try and lose weight. February I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic with a medium cholesterol count but because of my family history I was asked to reduce my cholesterol. Last week blood tests showed my glucose and cholesterol had reduced and I am no longer pre-diabetic. However, after seven months of dieting and nine weeks of discussions with my dietitian I can say that I’ve lost the vast amount of 7 lbs! My dietitian now, finally, agrees that it’s probably the meds that are keeping my weight on. Oh well never mind. I feel good though and have returned to the gym and to my swimming. I’ll stay on the calories though as it stops me from eating junk.

PS. I do not like cooking with cottage cheese and I find I can tolerate fish if it’s the cod fish fingers that M&S sells. 😀

I hate fish. I keep trying it cooked different ways because my husband loves it. I still hate it, apart from the M&S cod fishfingers. Lol.

You've done amazingly well to stop that pre-diabetic diagnosis in it's tracks, Maisie - and a 7lbs weight reduction is impressive (that's half a stone gone!). Congratulations on getting back to the gym and your swimming too. I'd love to be able to swim properly but I don't seem to have the upper body strength needed. I can swim but I was always envious watching people gliding up and down the pool lengths with seemingly no effort when I can barely manage a breadth! I love all sorts of fish and could eat it for every meal - have you ever had a go at making your own fish fingers? I've never tried it, but will get round to it one of these days. Someone recommended panko breadcrumbs to me recently (apparently they're delicious and really crispy!) so I intend to have a go with these. Keep at it - you're doing incredibly well! Carol

That’s why I go to a gym. The depth is the same for the full 25 metres so if I tire swimming I walk. Pandora breadcrumbs are delicious. They make a crispy change when cooking chicken.

I hadn't thought of using them with chicken, Maisie. I'll definitely try that, thank you! 😀👍
