Worrying update

Hello.

Had a phone call from a partner surgery to mine that monitors the Omron Viso blood pressure app.

My readings have been very low over the past few days the nurse suggested I stop taking the Losartan 2.5mgs for today.

Not long after my GP rang he said don't take it again until after I've seen the GP on Monday which is a prearranged appointment.

The doctor said we want to keep you on it as long as possible as it's a life prolonging drug which put the fear of God in me.

The doctor did step me down from 5mg to 2.5mg at previous appointment to see if this was the cause but hasn't made a difference my pulse is still low too below 50bpm as low as 39bpm at rest then goes over 100bpm at rest also.

Sorry for the long post.

Hi Coopergirl52

If it is the Losartan causing this, I hope they can find an alternative to this.

Good luck and let us know how you’re getting on.

Thank you Tos92.

I will do it seems strange that the Bisoprolol was reduced from 5 to 2.5mg 3 weeks ago as they thought this drug was causing all my symptoms amongst the low blood pressure and pulse but it seems not.

Low blood pressure and bradycardia (low pulse) also does not seem to be a side effect of Losartan either according to the NHS

I hope you can get to the bottom of what’s causing it.

Thanks Tos92.

I hope so too.

Losartan relaxes blood vessels and therefore reduces blood pressure, so that isn't a side effect, it's the desired effect.

Bisoprolol restricts the effect of adrenaline on the heart and so limits its maximum rate, also reducing resting heartrate a little and this may cause a slight reduction in blood pressure.

Your condition is complex and it may take some experimenting with different drugs until your bp and hr are controlled to your satisfaction.

I hope that you have a productive session with your GP on Monday.

Best wishes

Paul

Thanks Paul.

Interesting I wonder if they will keep me on 2 blood pressure tablets which I've been on since my HA in April 22 or just keep it to one but I'm guessing it's better to be on 2 will keep the group posted.
