Some of you may know that I had a ct scan in December 2017 and was phone by the cardiac nurse within 2 day to say I needed to start on aggressive treatment medication because have a CAD score of 3 wit obstructie disease in Ostrium and proximal LAD . He ra.g me and said I need a wire pressure angiogramme and will get an appointment with in 6 to 8 weeks. After 8 weeks no appointment so
I tried to carry on as normal going to work etc but it was too much and my doctor put me on leave for 8 weeks to rest until the appointment came through. I was then told by the hospital that they have closed all appointments for at least 3 months.
So I'm in a bit of a limbo land. I am seeing my doctor on Monday to talk about some side effects of the medication ...but my daughter had lunch with her friend who is a cardiac nurse in London and she was very angry that I have waited so long for the angiogram and said the wait in London is only 10 days .she also said I could and should get my doctor to refer me to one of the 2 hospital she suggested...does anyone know is this correct ? Can my doctor refer me to another hospital ? Has anyine else tried this ? Just getting very down and anxios waiting in limbo land.

Yes, you can be asked to be referred to another hospital, different cardiologist etc. You will need to do this through your GO unless you can pay for a private consultation (in which case you arrange it yourself).
I doubt the waiting list for angiogram is only 10 days for all cardiac patients. Probably, yes, for those assessed as quite urgent and even hours where there has been a heart attack or other issue. Yes, you can be referred to another hospital. I got my GP to this when I was unhappy with the vascular surgeon I had been referred to with PAD. I did some research first so I could suggest both a hospital and a consultant.
Hi When I was not getting the answers to my problem my Dr. referred me to AEI ? they have to see you within 7 days. They ordered scans, monitors etc with the result that I had a Pacemaker fitted. Go press your GP for action !
I am sure ( based on the appt dept being closed for 3 mintgsxat your current hospital) that you should be able to be moved to another hospital. It seems bizarre that this hospital has shut down this dept and not referred patients to other hospitals?!?.
I would also ask your Dr to push you through as urgent due to the length of time you have already been waiting.
