I’ve been prescribed amoxicillin for a dental abscess but i know the dentist didn’t check if it’s okay after heart attack or with arrhythmias. Anyone here had amoxicillin?

is amoxicillin safe after heart attack?
Hello
Have you updated the Dentist about your health conditions as well as the medication you are on ours always ask and they have it on our records and can see it when they go on them which they do every visit
I have taken antibiotics not the same ones as you since my heart attacks and Bypasses and am on the usual heart meds most of us are take
If you are worried if they will be ok because you do not think they checked give either give the dentist a ring , the pharmacist or your Doctors and ask you can do it in the Morning and hopefully you will get peace of mind as well as been told you can take them as you need to get that abscess sorted
Let us know how you get on x
thank you BeKind I’ve started meithering about it as I’ve ignored it for a while now. But reading around antibiotics- its complicated with the heart arrhythmia’s after heart attack. The dentist didn’t really worry which antibiotic and just said he’d prescribe a well known one 🤷🏼♀️. I’m going to phone back in the morning and ask him to look into it more.
I emailed the cardiologist and had a reply the same day 😀. He says amoxicillin shouldn’t cause me a problem so I’ve started taking them. The abscess is smaller already so hopefully this will sort it. Thank you.
Hello
That was quick service you got there and brilliant news as I know abscesses can turn really bad without and already that is good news you are seeing a difference I am so pleased for you x
Hi Ewloe
I’m sorry to hear about the dental abscess.
I have had amoxicillin on a few occasions after my heart attack last year. You’re right in saying that it can speed up your heart rate and this should be in your patient information leaflet. I personally, did not feel like it had any impact on my heart rate.
However, I assume your dentist has your heart history so has prescribed you this with all of that in mind?
If you’re unsure, I would contact your dentist again to double check that they have your correct heart history. It’s probably wise to begin the course of antibiotics after speaking with your dentist or a doctor again to be on the safe side.
All the best.

Just ask a pharmacist and also make sure your medical records are up to date at your dentists. Anyone prescribing should check what health conditions you have and any other meds you are on.
I've taken Amoxycillin several times whilst in hospital and out with no problems, however you must discuss this with your cardiologist or GP. Best wishes.
I'm on it now, My Dr put a note on the prescription saying that it was not a contraindication for my heart medication.
