A friend had a heart attack 4 weeks ago. He has been told he needs a triple bypass. Can he drive whilst he is waiting for the bypass?

Driving after heart attack
Most but not all people can resume driving 4 - 6 weeks after a heart attack subject to permission being given by their GP/cardiolgist. They should also inform their insurance company.
They should not drive if driving causes angina. Long distance driving is also best avoided.
So they need to speak to their GP/cardiolgist in the first instance. Driving without getting permission first is a criminal offence.
I didnt have a heart attack but after an angiogram I was told that I had to have a triple bypass due to 2 arteries being totally blocked & another 96% blocked. The cardiologist then told me that I shouldn’t drive. I took his advice.

Really his cardiology team should have explained the situation as they have all the facts about his circumstances, I would suggest contacting them in the first instance.
Hi go onto the DVLA web site as it gives you all the information relating to when or if you can drive
Good luck
Thank you for all you comments. I will pass them on. It appears he has been discharged with little advice and support.
