Has anyone had experience of surgery post stent? What did you do about the daily asprin? I am due to have minor surgery on my eyelid and the Ocuplastic surgeon has written to my cardiologist . The cardiologist writes that although it was 19 months ago and I am doing well he doesn't recommend suspending the aspirin or me having alternative cover. I am just wondering what happens if you need surgery such as hip replacement, hernia , gallstones? Surely the surgery must go ahead if necessary.
I would appreciate finding out about your experiences .

I take Clopidogrel and have done so for many years. When I need any surgery, including dentist etc, I always ask the team that will be operating. So far they all got me to take low dose aspirin in place of clopidogrel.
you have had contact with the operating team which is exactly the right thing to do.
Had a hedgehog in my garden last week, it was ginormous ! I leave a couple of areas to grow wild and perhaps he benefitted from that. I will now leave a little cat food out and that should encourage hedgehogs to visit me again. Have not seen any for years.
I was advised to stop my ticagrelor 3 days prior to surgery and not resume until 24 hours after bleeding had stopped. I was told to keep going with the aspirin.
I had open inguanal hernia surgery 2 months ago (about 22 months after HA.) I take 75mg aspirin and 80mg Atorvastatin daily and did not have to stop the asprin for this surgery. I had virtually no bruising which was contrary to expectations. However I would ask the advice of your surgeon and cardiologist as you may have a different medication regime and different susceptability to bleeding from me. Hope all goes well with your surgery.
Hi I take anticoagulants for a clotting disorder and have had a number of surgeries, having surgery on Friday for skin cancer. Each hospital has a protocol and I have had to stop medication 2 days prior to surgery I have to have heparin injections instead. Everything was fine.
Thank you everyone for taking the time and effort to reply to me.I very much appreciate it and your responses have definitely helped me.This us exactly what this site is great for, sharing experiences as a community especially when partners, family and friends don't understand what we are going through.
I have arrived in Scily today but hopefully have my surgery on the 25th June .I haven't spoken to her yet about the cardiologists response so your comments will be extremely useful.
Esentepe, I hope your surgery goes well.I will be thinking of you
Runintheoark, I too have several eye surgeries; detached retina, blow out fracture of the eye orbit , so I empathise.j
Blackcatsooty, I love hedgehogs but haven't seen one for ages inspite of my one woman effort to expand wild life corridors where I live.I do, however, have a regular visiting fox .
