Well my smart phone is struggling with the old thread so I hace decided to kick off a new one... 🤣

Social Check In - 26th May
A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. 'Mummy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle.'
A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover.
The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, 'What's the matter, haven't you ever
seen a little boy before?'
Off for my Saturday walk to buy a newspaper (I.e. not a tabloid) and have a Spanish omelette.
This thread works normally. I think 200 - 250 posts is the limit!
Found on another forum this morning!
With increasing obesity rates the wedding vows have been changed:
"Do you take this woman, or would you like her delivered?"
Good morning Michael.
You do realise that by being the originator of this post you're going to get hundreds of notifications of new responses. It would drive me mad! Well should say madder than I am!
Have a lovely day everyone.
Jean
Yes the thread is all over the place. Can’t handle it. Thanks for a smile today. 😂. It’s been missing.
Thanks for the smiles again Michael. Hope you're doing well. xxx
oh Wow you are back. Where you bin?
That's been the problem...............Cute has been used a lot....
Well we sure have missed you. Glad you are back. We are all over the place without you. 🙃
Lol! 😂😱
Lmao 😂
Another of my grandad’s favourites: I used to be a werewolf but I’m alright naoooooow! 🙈
I’ll get my coat 😂🤦🏻♀️
Good morning everyone, another beautiful day. I'm wondering this morning if this is our summer and once this period of good weather ends if we'll get another sunny spell as long as it's been now.
I'm off to do my voluntary job as a room guide for the National Trust a little later today. If any of you are interested in doing something like this let me know and I'll tell you all about it. There are lots of perks that go with it and you can sit down whenever you want. If you like chatting to people you would absolutely love being a volunteer. They also like volunteers for the shops, gardens and cafes.
Wishing you all a healthy and happy Sunday.
Jean
Sounds wonderful Jean. My mum in law volunteered with NT for years and loved it.
That's nice to hear.
I worked for them for two years about 20 years ago and have now been a volunteer for almost 10. The NT are really trying to change their image. We have a lad at the place I go to and he has a purple Mohican hairstyle. Once you talk to him his face breaks into the most beautiful smile and he's a really lovely chatty, kind person. It's taught me not to judge a person by how they look.
I love bumping into guides, they always have a little bit more human knowledge than those bloody awful pre-recorded aids that seem to be appearing everywhere, I cough or sneeze and miss who was having an affair with whom or can't get it off talking to me in Chinese .
{ they also know where the best tea/cake shop is in the local town }
Some times I hate getting caught by a guide elsewhere, they can go on and on. I try hard not to do that and can usually sense if people have had enough, but I too like to hear all about a property.
That’s great Jean. I’ve done lots of volunteering when I was working but when I retired I became invisible. I tried the NHS who I’d worked for for years. They took six months, an interactive interview, two references and then decided they wanted me to work in a hospital some distance from where I lived. After they’d got all the relevant clearances for security etc they lost my references and asked for them again. I told them not to bother in the end. They were so disorganised. Whilst I was working I used to volunteer on the Right to Read programme. Once I retired I was invisible again. I’ve worked for churches, scout groups. I’ve been treasurer of the local day centre and scouts whist I was working. I’ve tried various local community projects including the Salvation Army. The only group I could get into was a local advisory committee for the police! At least they weren’t ageist. I had to give it up after my heart attack because it wasn’t really what I wanted to do. I’m always chatting with people when I’m out and about shopping.
You sound like you'd make a lovely National Trust Guide. You don't have to commit to any particular times or days of the week. Just go online and put yourself on for a morning or afternoon when you'd like to go in. Age is no barrier.
They certainly don't mess you around either and look after you well.
Yes, not easy to find something suitable. I have good days and bad days with Afib so I'm concerned that if I promise too much then it turns out to be a bad day I'll let people down and I've always prided myself on being reliable. So I need to find something that is not a problem to do on a bad day.
When I retired I planned to join a canistherapy group with our dog. Now I have heart problems I've found it too much, but after chatting to the woman responsible for volunteering at our local hospital I thought I could help there in ways requiring less energy. I hope it doesn't turn out to be as bureaucratic as your experience. I'm waiting for clearance that I have a clean criminal record (they need a new one and as a foreigner here it takes longer). We'll see how it goes. I've had to change my outlook on life in several respects.
Agree also with your point about chatting to people when shopping. You never know how far a few pleasant words can go. It could be the best thing we ever do.
Good luck.
Saw a comment on the AFA page that I liked. I'm not sure if it was intentional: "When you have Atrial Fibrillation your body has a mind of its own." 🤔I couldn't have put it better myself. 😊
I laughed, really I did..........tablet time me thinks
