Hello :-)

When I saw your beautiful picture last week I thought I wished I was young again and looked like that with a fantastic figure :-)

You know and of course we cannot diagnose before anyone says we are but I still now but for years had these symptoms it got so bad at one stage that I could have a blouse on with room to spare and then later the buttons would be popping open as my stomach had swelled so much my stomach was also rock hard and I would burp to

I did have the camera procedure and they said I had IBS which these can be typical symptoms and I wonder if you may have that to

If you could start a food dairy and write down what you have eaten and when you notice your stomach swells as it does not have to be fizzy things causing it but any foods can and see if anything starts to have a pattern of something you have eaten

I am not sure if you take any meds but they can be another cause

Keep pushing your Doctor for answers even if it means you have to take a picture of it because as luck has it when we go with something it never seems to show as bad as when we are at home but they can see then how much it comes up

This is making you miserable I know but don't stop till they tell you what the cause is :-) x

This is a good idea thanks for listening to my post and not completely dismissing me πŸ’”x

Hello :-)

I would never dismiss anyone's concerns and especially when I have and can still have the same as you are

I always remember saying when my stomach swelled I look 9 months pregnant and I would it can be distressful as well as uncomfortable

Don't let the Doctors dismiss you either they are there to find out what is causing it :-) x

Yeah it's is very uncomfortable and hurts my back when my stomach is bloated I really do feel like I'm pregnant when my belly is bloated urggh the amount of gas I had last night was a joke, yesterday was 9stone 8 and today 9stone 4 I know you way less in the morning and more at night but it's been a while since I could way myself cause mine broke πŸ˜‚. Belly always hurts first thing in the morning and then gets really bloated as the day goes on is it possible I'm lactose intolerant do you think?? Urggh been dealing with this for months I always try to go to the doctors about it and then I feel silly for even thinking of going about something like that they will ask me what have I taken to try and help the bloating and all I can say will be I stopped fizzy drinks yeah there gona take me seriously πŸ™„πŸ˜. I don't know if it's fluid build up or just gas πŸ’”. I know you would never dismiss anything anyone says on here, I'm just so used to being treated like that by any medical person it's hard not to feel like that πŸ˜πŸ’”. Sorry for the long reply I think my anxiety just gets the best of me some times, well seems like all the time just lately πŸ˜”. ❀️

You mentioned lactose intolerance. I’m lactose intolerant and usually if I have any dairy my stomach would hurt badly and I would get the runs, also a few days after I would have an aching bloated feeling. I began trying lacto free dairy products but now I find I’m becoming intolerant to them also, with mainly that aching bloated stomach. You need to find a way to replace calcium if you do give up dairy, because if you don’t later on in life your bones will be affected by the years of lack. I think you should speak to your doctor because they have all the recourses to diagnose whether it’s to do with food or something else. Write everything down and don’t forget to mention your backache when your stomach swells. I hope you get an answer.

Morning, sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. Bekind-28 has written a good post. I would also say cut down on bread, my late Grandfather was a Baker and he told me dont eat it at every meal. When I cut it out and I absolutely love the stuff, my stomach area, within a week, is flatter, not flat, that would be too much to ask lol, but try cutting it down. Also sugar, refined sugar is bad for us and that makes me bloat up too. Def return to your doctor and get some answers. Good luck keep us posted

Oh I never considered bread to be doing it I do eat alot of bread I have a roll for lunch most days so probably isn't helping πŸ™„πŸ˜‚πŸ€”

Hi Yumz,

Agree with lisburb. Used to be bloated and gassy everyday. I cut out potatoes, rice, bread and pasta completely and have been much better. Sugar too. I still get it if I eat too many vegetables, though :)

I think if you are on medication that can cause it. You have just described my husband. He keeps going back to the doctor about changing some of his meds but so far no luck. Yours may be more sympathetic.

Hi seal59I wasn't aware that verapamil can cause stomach bloating?? What medication does it to your husband if you don't mind me asking πŸ˜‰, I think it could be fluid build up but would that make you have so much gas???

Seal59 profile image

ramipril , metoprolol, atorvostatin and omeprazole

Could it be fluid build up as well as gas? I never get swollen ankles but any excess fluid builds up in my upper abdomen. In hospital recently I was in fluid overload and had IV frusemide (diuretic) and had an almost flat tummy for once

Yumz199725 in reply to CRTD

Hi CRTD

Beginning to think your right I never get swollen ankles so probably just goes to my stomach which really sucks right! The thing is I have a flattish stomach by the morning then just starts all over again like a vicious circle πŸ’”.

Dear you,

As others have said check your fluid retention,

I looked like a little Buddha { other Gods available } until they got it right.

Take care

How would I check my fluid retention?? X

in reply to Yumz199725

The easiest way is to press and hold points on your legs, if it stays white with an indentation for a few moment then your carrying water, breathless and bags under the eyes, general feeling of sluggishness, weight gain can all be it.

But better to see your Dr and let them diagnose it

Yes. I’m sure its a good idea to see GP and get it diagnosed.

But if its IBS, most of us self-manage it, once diagnosed.

I eat little and often, keep calm (not easy), never now have a big meal in the evening, less sugar and acid fruit, only eat sourdough, use mint pills from Health Food shop (which work a treat for bloating etc). If they don’t work, I use Gaviscon, or sparingly, Buscopan. All available over the counter.

How would a gp diagnose IBS?? X

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply to Yumz199725

BY testing for everything else and ruling them out. There is no test for iBS. They only diagnose it when they've run out of other ideas. IBS is not just bloating; it's pain and either the runs or the opposite. I used to be curled up in terrible pain one the bathroom floor; not daring to leave for hours. Do talk to your doctor about your meds.

may I ask do you suffer from anxiety? If so is it possible you are gulping air, or over breathing that’s what my doctor said to me, just a thought! Have you tried peppermint tea?

Yumz199725 in reply to Dogloverxthree

Hi DogloverxthreeSorry for late reply, yeah I do recently got medication for it actually, I know anxiety can affect you in alot of ways wasn't aware it could do this πŸ€”, guess I will always be bloated then cause I get anxious about pretty much anything πŸ’”. I tried pepper mint tea made me feel so sick to the point that I almost was, that was from only taking one sip yuck!.

Hospital gave me peppermint cordial ( dilute with cold water) to get rid of gas after an operation and boy did it work.

Just a thought Yumz199725 , have you tried a gluten free diet? Some people are allergic to gluten and it can cause bloating.

You might also benefit from a gastroscopy where a small camera is inserted through your mouth into your oesophagus, then making its way down to your stomach to show ulcers and gastritis.

Hope you can get down to the bottom of this soon ❀️

Hello Yummy. I get bloated stomach and build up of gas and have to be careful what l eat, especially citrus fruit or pickles. I do take Omeprazole which helps the gas. Make sure you open your bowels regularly because if not, l find the gas can’t escape so good. Just let rip when you can. You just have too. Lol. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«
