Was on amais brand for a long time now on different brands each time I get new prescription and seem to be having side efffects.
Can starting a new brand of candesart... - British Heart Fou...
Can starting a new brand of candesartan cause side effects even if you've been on it long term
Thank you glad of the reassurance
Hi, don't know but I think an increase in Candastartan has given me headaches... Nasty ones. I was on the smaller dose for years before my op. What particular effects are you getting?
I have been on same dose for about 3 years but now getting nasal congestion, back pain and headache, and today I start a new month of candessartan of yet another different brand
Forgot to add the dizziness. Trouble is I'm on so much medication atm.
Hello there Chrissycl
I earlier posted about backpain with Candesartan here - healthunlocked.com/bhf/post... - are you still taking Candesartan and have the same issue/or swapped to another brand and its gone?
I have only taken/started on one brand (Krka) since middle January and still getting the back twinges/pain - really annoying as the drug does seem to keep my bp in check. Will give it a few more weeks (as sometimes the body can adjust to side affects after some time) but if still happening in a few weeks looks like i will need to change.
What kind of reaction did you have?
Yes happened to me when my pharmacist changed the brand of Statin I was taking. Was back to normal when they switched back.
Yes I was ok when it was amais but suddenly boots were unable to get it so had different brands nearly every month and wondered why I seemed to have an everlasting cold
I react badly to different brands. For some medication my GP prescribes a named band for me. For others the chemist tries to always get the same brand but it's not always possible. I am guessing I react to certain preservatves or colourings> I know I can't tolerate a certain yellow coluring. The main ingredient will be the same but what changes is the other things they add.
Ask your doctor to specify the brand you are used to on the prescription. I have had similar problems to you but with a different medication.
Problem with the chemist is the buyers at head office buy the cheapest brand. If it's specified on the prescription they have to get it..
I also get side effects from different brands, currently talking to doctor. I used to use one in a green/ yellow box supplied by manor chemist, this is no longer available, but it was fine for me
