Dapagliflozin (Forxiga, Farxiga). Has anyone been on this drug long term and experienced improvements to heart?

I have recently been to the cardiologist who has stated my ef rate had dropped from 44% to 35-40% which is a small decline but he is hoping over this next year, that the drug dapa will improve things before intervening any further.

Has anyone noticed improvements from this drug specifically?

Yes hoping it work. Do you feel any better since starting this med? I notice sleepy affects from it. More fatigued but in a relaxed way. Heart seems to be beating more controlled id say. Slower.

I’ve got a pacemaker so haven’t noticed anything different heartbeat wise. I get very tired and really have to push myself to get up and get going but think that is also side effects of Bisoprolol so don’t notify it the Dapagliflozin.

I've recently been put on dapa as well, due to a decrease in EF. Everybody is telling me that it is known to have the benefit of helping in these situations, or at least stopping the decline. So I am hopeful. Regards

Dear You,

I was put on Dapa when my ejection fraction was at -20%

Unfortunately 6 months on and it is at the same level, but they want me to continue using it for a little longer to see if any improvement is noted.

Sorry it doesn't work for everyone, I really hope that it does for you

I’ve been on Dapagliflozin for a year. In that time my EF has gone from 39% to 56% and I definitely feel it was a game changer for me.

Hi I was put on Dapa last year October and I have a CRT-D device fitted, and my EF was 15% but in January after an echocardiogram it went to 23%.

At first I didn’t notice much difference, maybe a bit more energy, but I had started Aqua aerobics January last year so I wasn’t sure. Then this year I noticed I began urinating more, then I began loosing a lot of weight. Others I know taking it was telling me they were loosing weight on it, but I wasn’t until about 5 months after taking it. It gets rid of glucose and salt from your body.

I have been on Dapagliflozin for the last 18 month on recommendation of my Cardiologist and I can honestly say its the best I have felt in the 13 years since my Heart attack at 58. I no longer get any angina pains on exercise my feet and ankles no longer swell and I have been able to dispense with support stockings. He also adjusted my other heart meds upwards so that may have helped, the only drawback is regular bouts of penile thrush treated with over the counter meds for both sexes. Also it makes your pee frothy!!

Hi there

I was put on Dapagliflozin a few months ago following a VF arrest

At that point my EF was 24%, it’s now up to 35%

Can’t say that it’s made a definitive difference as I’m on a cocktail of meds but I’d take 35% over 24% any day

Onwards and upwards

Cheers
