I’ve been having tests for months now along with different medications. Last year I started to wake up with a puffy/swollen face more on the right side. When I lean forward or bend down I get a feeling like my face is throbbing and my eyes go bloody shot. Over the past few months I’ve noticed it always seems to be worse at the start of the month. My stomach also gets very swollen. I’m worried it’s the signs of heart failure as my life expectancy is shorter anyway. I just don’t know if I’m ready to ask my consultant because I’m dreading the answer.

Hi Saammiiee, Sorry I don't have any answers for you, but I think you should contact your consultant for peace of mind, this could be something quite trivial or not, best to get it sorted sooner than later, others on here might be able to relate to your question better than me. We are all here on this forum to support each other, please know we all will be here for you. Take care. Ruth
Helloooo... Unfortunately I also have no answers. As a lifelong diabetic who also suffers from PAD and had a bypass in 2018 my view is confront the truth, learn as much about the condition as you can and then get on with living as we are not on a practice run!
After my totally unexpected amputation 8 weeks ago I decided that I still wanted to live an independant life. I will be honest and say I had one bad day but otherwise the focus is on getting that independance. If I sit around being miserable I will not grow a new leg, worrying about body image will not achieve anything, etc.
So see your consultant, confront whatever it is and let us know how you get on! 👍
Hi, ok, two questions... what medication are you on and why is your life expectancy shorter? From a heart point of view, the first thing that springs to mind is fluid retention (edema), is it puffy and hard or can you press into it? after that I would think of some kind of alergic reaction...
Hi hope u feeling ok but why do you think u have heart failure and your life expectancy is short Mayb the swelling can be treated and no one can advice you except to see ur gp has he knows you wishing you the best
I know kidney function can cause odema and particularly odema around the eyes and face area. I would get it checked. Have you got any kidney problems? X
Hi if you are on steroids for any reason they can cause what they call moon face, unfortunately I have it myself at the moment, but I have been told it will go back to normal when the dosage is lowered, I had severe heart failure before my transplant, swollen ankles and stomach could be fluid retention but I Haven't heard of any swelling of face, I was told to weigh myself every day and if there was a huge difference to phone the doctor, but there could be many other reasons even an allergy could be the cause, it happened to me with hair dye! it would be worth making an appointment even just for reasurence, take care char
You're so young and a lovely girl to have all that worry. Don't be afraid to check with your consultant especially if you are being tested and put on different medications. They may need to review one of them. It could be edema as in fluid retention but if on one side it could be a dental issue. Please go and question with your consultant and I along with others here hope all will be well for you.
