should I believe it? And if so, should I be worried?

this morning my Fitbit tells me my pulse went up to 112 at midnight last night - I was fast asleep!!! Should I believe it? And should I be worried? I take bisoprolol and ramipril at night ….

I get palpitations during the day sometimes but completely random.

Jane (enjoying the sun)!

hi my Fitbit sometimes has random spikes. It happens quite often when I’m not wearing it. When I was in hospital with a heart rate of 170 it said I was only 80. I think they are pretty unreliable at times. I’m going to stop wearing mine so much as it can be anxiety provoking. Xx

possibly my low pulse rate then. Think I’ll have a night without it!

I wouldn't pay a great deal of attention to a watch, they're not that accurate! It depends on how loose/tight your watch is when sleeping etc. My husband's Fitbit always read his pulse as being in the 70's, his HR was actually in the low 50's dipping into the 40's! The best way to take your pulse is finger on your wrist.

Quite possible when you are having a nightmare or an erotic dream.

I take my bisoprolol in the morning and ramipril at night. Presumably I was told to do this or it suggests this on the packet. No idea if taking the two together at night might have an adverse impact

My last Fitbit I had was reasonably accurate

Hello Bartie123,

Night palpitations happened to me and I would trust what your Fitbit reading was as although not very accurate, I don’t think Fitbits would read more heartbeats that there are.

For what I know night palpitations are quite common also because most palpitations happen when we are at rest and the power of emotions we go through during dreaming sometimes triggers them (that is what happens to me most of the time if I have a nightmare for example).

That said, if it didn’t last long and fixed itself I would not worry too much, as you probably know palpitations are very common.

Wish you all the best

thank you! I dream a lot - and always very vi idly - comes of having a “lively imagination “ I’ve been told! About the only bit of me that is lively these days! Last night the readings were as usual. 50 to 56.

And now it’s raining again!

same here! I have very vivid dreams and used to have lots of lucid dreams too which were absolutely terrifying when I was younger.

So much that I started to think that I relive a past life as often I hide and run away from people who are looking for me. Thanks god I haven’t lived through a war and had a very happy childhood/teenage years, so really not sure where all those dreams come from but I run a lot and I’m scared during my dreams so I’m sure my adrenaline is pumping through my veins and that’s when my AF is triggered.

PS not lucky with weather here too :-/

No forget about it as it can happen depending on the way you are lying down or on the watch. I had a fitbit and found it prone to these errors. Even if it was correct it might have been just a bad dream you had.
