Finding a local group

I'm 44 and recently been diagnosed with LBBB (2 years ago with no other underlying issues). Last year left ventricle was dilated with ef fraction 45%. I'm struggling to come to terms with it and feel very alone and scared of what my future holds. I have looked up groups to join but the closest one is too far away. Then there is a teen group and group for 18 to 30 year old which I don't fit in. Just wanted to find a group or someone local I could walk with, talk to, who can understand, to support each other. Any ideas where to look?

I was diagnosed a few years ago with LBBB leading to severe heart failure, an EF of 20%. I am still coping OK on medication, and have been discharged by my cardiologist.

In the words of the late, great Douglas Adams, DON'T PANIC!

Just a thought….but could you set a group up yourself?🌞

I was diagnosed with global cardiomyopathy and LBBB in December. My ejection factor was 30 and I couldn’t walk 100 yards without breathing difficulties. I thought it was asthma. Taking meds for 3 months my life has changed. Feel better than I have done for years. My ejection factor is now 41 and I start circuit training in April with the cardiac rehab team. It’s normal to be anxious and concerned with anything g with the heart. Don’t let your head get in The way and live your life. Fear is not your friend. Much love. X

I also felt better when I started medication. Then on one of the jogging sessions, got chest pain again. Medication has gone up but I don't feel good again. Not sure if that means things have got worse

sorry to hear that you are struggling with this

first, a little reassurance - the normal range for ejection fraction is 50-65%, it cannot and does not reach 100%, so although 45% is a bit low, it is not generally seen as seriously low

second, have you contacted Cardiomyopathy UK, they might not have local groups but do have telephone peer support as well as their own facebook group, chat group and social media networks to contact others with similar conditions - cardiomyopathy.org/living-c...

I too have an LBBB with no underlying issues, EF rate 53 so very minimally down. Recently had an MRI but still waiting results. It is quite a common issue from what I can see. I am sure you can find some supportive friends on here. This site has been a godsend to me just reading about others experiences has helped me understand the condition and keep my anxiety to a minimum. Good luck.
