I am recovering from a heart attack in Feb. I understand the BHF has a list of Insureres for Travel insurance. Can anybody point me in the direction of this list please.

Travel Insurance
Hi As I tell everyone who asks about insurance on here, try Avanti insurance I find them better than the rest and people on her who have tried them find them excellent.
I am not aware of any list for travel insurance providers, although Avanti, Staysure and Allclear get mentioned regularly. My suggestion is for folks to use a comparison site for travel insurance for pre-existing conditions and go from there. Or use a local insurance broker. We are all different with different personal circumstances, medical conditions and where we wish to travel and for how long and insurance providers assess the risk differently so there is no one size fits all. Finally if you are expecting any further treatment or investigations that may mean some insurers will decline to cover you.
Thanks
pre heart diagnosis - annual Europe cover about £ 220 for 2 people . last year after TAVI and pacemaker £1000 ish. This year AVANTI. £ 550 ish. But taken larger excess. Very hard to compare quotes. PH
Never ever claimed so cannot comment on practical issues !
Staysure and Avanti seem to offer competitive prices. However they are administered by Ergo Travel Ltd (as is Sainsbury Travel Insurance).
Claims are dealt with by Davies Group,
Their claims process is appalling and it takes months for claims to be settled. It is impossible to contact a claims advisor by phone,
I had recent experience of this which left me very stressed and financially out of pocket whilst waiting for a large medical claim to be settled.
For this reason I would not recommend either.
pussycatwillow I experienced the same thing with Staysure last year. Spent a considerable amount abroad after being admitted for my heart condition which I didn’t know I had at the time. Took me about 6-7 months to get my money back. I was totally shocked on how long it took despite giving them all my medical records and bills.
I have lodged a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Their name and Avanti are recommended frequently on this forum. No doubt because they offer such competitive premiums especially if you have a pre existing condition.
I was fortunate to be able to pay my £8000 medical bill on a credit card, but had to use savings in the interim. There are many people who may not. The stress and anxiety only adds to your existing medical conditions!
Sadly it only when you claim that you find out how good a company are. You get what you pay for!
Thank you both for your comments.
