Finally got a reply from surgery

After chasing my surgery as not heard from my local hospital as to when I will have an echocardiogram which my doctor requested beginning of November last year as a blood test came back saying I might have possible heart failure.

I'm on the waiting list to have the scan but the list a seven month wait I'm hoping its seven months from when it was ordered but think its from today I'm starting to feel more dizzy and lightheaded more often which I mentioned to the doctor when I emailed I just hope it doesn't get any worse.

It's the not knowing that is worrying me.

When this happened to my husband re. echo. I went along to the dept at the hospital asked for him to be put on the cancellation list. The clerk went to check up with someone about this and came back saying 'can your husband come next Tuesday? We can do 10 am 10.30 or 11 am'.Ifthis miracle does not hapen for you ask to be put on the cancellation list and there is a good chance you can slot in when someone cancels. We do this all the time and half the time it works in our favour.

Yeah I agree the not knowing is the worst can't belive you have to wait this long so terrible!

Hello :-)

I feel so much for everyone that is having to wait months and months for whatever health reason it just seems like everything is such a mess which does not help when you are getting anxious as you just want to know if anything is wrong I really feel for you which I know does not help but we understand how you are feeling

I have not read your other replies as yet but make sure you let them know you want to be on the cancellation list as often people cancel for one reason or another and it could speed it up

I know from my experiences that in the past when I have been seen and given the all clear my symptoms improve or go altogether some of the worry maybe making you focus more on everything

You have come this far take each day as it comes if anything gets worse of course you know A&E but hopefully you will be posting soon and telling us you have a date or you have been and had it done :-)

Meanwhile when you need to talk come on here and people will try and help to support you :-) x

And rightly so, anyone would be worried at this delay, completely unacceptable, I really feel for you.

Hopefully the answers to the tests will come a lot quicker than the appointments for the tests themselves.

You are so correct, the waiting and not knowing is always the biggest worry

Take care and please keep us informed.

Sadly Cardiology departments are swamped. It took 6 months to get the results of my last echo. Do phone up the Cardiology secretary and say you’re feeling unwell. It’s not always easy, but we patients do need to be assertive to get what we need.

If you have worsening symptoms talk to your GP and see if he will write to expedite your appt. There are guidelines to prioritise patients and depends on your test, BNP result.

The echo dept are pretty swamped but there may be a way to squeeze you in. Work with the people who can help to find it.

That's ridiculous. I was sent for an echo before Christmas and only had to w ait about 4 weeks.

I think there's been a back log of admin because of the strikes atleast that's what my consultant told me when I went for my appointment in January and he said I would be waiting a few months for appointments for tests. Hope your not waiting too long 🤔😢

hi My cardiograph showed damage in August band I was briefly seen by a cardiologist at local hospital who ordered further tests including another echocardiogram. All done except 2nd echo as waiting list too long but bigger hospital is has sent me an appointment for next week without it . The echo dept told me to ring every morning to see if there were any cancellations. Don’t give up every area seems to be struggling to do them Vms49
