Feeling Cold

I know it has been extremely cold and most of us are being extra careful with the use of gas and electricity since the price hikes. But I still seem to feel the cold a lot more than others. I was wondering if its to do with taking blood thinners clopidogrel ?

Yes I think it must be, I take warfarin and feel the cold more than anyone I know in the supermarket I particularly feel it at the chill counters and freezer’s.

I used to feel the cold dreadfully, but then it was discovered that I had an underactive thyroid. Since taking medication to rectify that I hardly ever feel cold. Have you had yours checked?

I take Clopidogrel and apart from 6 months have taken it since January 2017.

I can't say I feel the cold apart from my feet, they are always cold so I like my fluffy socks around the house.

My Raynaud's has definitely got worse since I've been on my meds, which includes Clopidogrel. My hands seem to be permanently white when I'm out and about even when I'm wrapped up and wearing gloves etc.

Want some Spring warmth asap!

Hi, Do speak to your cardio about this as some beta blockers are better than others for this problem. Not sure about Clopidogrel which is slightly different to them.I have Raynauds and Bisoprolol was ok to start with but then bad when they increased the dose. I was switched to Nebivolol which was easier to cope with. Maybe there is something similar for Clopidogrel?

Do try to avoid really cold places like air conditioned supermarkets, they can be awful and carry some gloves around even in the summer!

Battery powered hand warmers in the winter are great if you like walking outside. You can also get those chemical reaction pocket warmers which are fab and very light to stick in your pockets. They last for up to 10 hours!

Best of luck

I think you may be right - I have never felt the cold but since being on Apixaban and Clopidogrel I’m the same and cannot stand the cold any more

I feel the cold terribly too since I’ve been on all my meds, my feet and hands mainly but once they are cold I am cold ! Not nice although the heating is on a hot water bottle or a blankie always at hand.

I get very cold easily and it’s never a good sign. I’ve taken to wearing a beenie hat in the house as we lose so much heat through the head. It makes a huge difference, but then I am bald!

It was Bisoprolol for me, I used to get really cold hands & feet. My cardiologist recently agreed to take me off it and now all is fine 🙂

My hands are covered in chilblains after the recent cold weather. It happens every winter since I started taking medicines. Wonderful doctor says there is nothing he can do about it so I wear cotton gloves indoors during winter which help.
