Hi since all of this happened to me I am cold all of the time. It takes several layers and the heating on for me to feel ok. Does anyone know if this is normal
Cold : Hi since all of this happened to... - British Heart Fou...
Cold
What medication are you on?
Isosobride 40mg x 2 daily
Ezetimibe 10mg x 1
Ticagrelor 90mg x 2
Aspirin 75mg x 1
Amloddipine 5mg x 1
Risuvastatin 20mg x 1
Bisoorolal 2.5mg x 1
Metformin 1000mg x 1
I think the culprit is probably the Ticagrelor thinning the blood. BP medication may make the effect slightly worse. The main solution is to wrap up well as you are doing but mention it to your GP next time you see he/she.
Hi, I’m exactly the same, before my HA 3 wks ago. I would happily be in a T-shirt and jeans and sandals even while everyone else would be wearing jumpers and boots. Now tho I’m always thinking about warm jumpers ,socks and boots 😬. My partner laughs cause all I seem to be saying is I’m freezing. Sometimes so cold it hurts my back I have been told it’s to do with our medication . X
Hi junky
Since I started in blood thinners I am cold all the time and I was never like that
Don’t know if it’s normal, but same here. Can’t get properly warm.
Hi
Since I started taking the Ticagrelor I have felt the cold badly, always used to live in short sleeved shirts even in the snow, but not now. At least teh Ticagelor is only for a year (in my case)
I come off it Christmas Eve I hope 👏👏
I like MichaelJH's response, very useful. Another thing could be if you have lost a lot of weight since your event/surgery - lower body fat can make you cold. I lost around 15kg and, combined with the blood thinners, froze. I keep a therm-fleece with me when I go to movies, cafes etc.
My less useful contribution - you live in the UK where it is always cold. Whenever I watch Escape to the Country with my wife I know why so many Brits stole bread so they could be transported to Australia. Good luck and stay warm!
And in Scotland so usually about 10degrees lower than the rest of the UK 💨💦❄️
I never use to feel the cold but now at this time year hands feet and nose all get cold (and runny nose) On the plus side I used to hate the really hot weather but love it now and even venture to sunny climates. All a bit Yin and Yang
hi there ,, nice to hear its not just me thats cold ,, ive never been a sun seeker ,, i work outdoors so always had a tan before others but had HA in may and ive never been so cold ,, the heating has been on most nights thru the summer and always needed that extra layer on thru the day,, it has improved quite a bit although not looking forward to winter ,, was always first out to play in the snow (although at 61 should really grow up ), i,m thankful that it has been a nice summer as i would have struggled with a normal british one
Hubby has been cold since his HA in 2016. GP told him it was the bisoprolol causing it. Our heating bills have doubled even though we now have heated throws and electric blanket on bed. I used to be the chilly one but now melting in the heat.
Same here, hands, ears and nose constantly cold.Nose always running.Dreading the winter.
Our heating bills are now astronomical as I’m always cold. Even in Greece on holiday I am cold in the air-con! And yes I am on Bisoprol too.
I am cold most of the time as well, it's the heart medication, I have taken to knitting socks to try and keep my feet from icing over also bought hand warmers from the internet, I am still cold but not quite so bad as I used to be.
And another thing, I have a heated throw, a dreamland, it's wonderful.
Yes, Rosei the Dreamland heated throws are great. Expensive but so warm. I managed to get one from the Next sale half price but the other two had to pay full price. The grandchildren love them.
Hi,
I suffer with raynauds and am cold summer and winter. Trying to keep my hands warm is a full time job. In fact its not the hands its the fingers. Try keeping them warm when we use them all the time? Have managed to keep my feet as warm as possible. But when i'm cold, I can't get warm no matter what I do. I feel better if I put warm clothes on instead of cold ones, like I use to. I take aspirin and a statin. Not sure if they are making me feel colder. But I do feel colder these days!
Regards Dee.
Yep, sounds like your meds. My husband and I (no I am not the Queen!) have found that as soon as it even starts to get nippy, we put on an extra layer, especially thick socks and woolly hats. Looks ridiculous, but hey, it works. Then we add layers as the temperature reduces. Trick is, try not to get cold in the first place as it is difficult then to warm up.
I feel the cold more now to. Even in my torso when it’s not that cold and I haven’t had a heart attack, I have dilated cardiomyopathy, HF and long qt, nice to know it’s not just me
