Hi Perhaps somebody can help me with my question. I was diagnosed with CHF and AF in 2021. Since then I have been on a lot of meds and feeling relatively well. Now I am very worried because my blood test which I had this week showed that my haemoglobin and haematocrit values are raised. My serum ferritin is higher than normal as well. Does anybody has had similar results and have some idea what the cause may be? I’ll try to speak to my GP as well but it would be nice to hear from someone who has the same problem. Any advice or idea will be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Worried about high haemoglobin and haemotocrit blood test results
I can't help directly with your questions, but will suggest you talk to the BHF Heart Helpline nurse who might be able to offer a professional opinion prior to your discussion with the GP.
Thank you very much for your advice. Much appreciated. I’ll do that.
hi. Thanks for posting this, I’ve got the same question and wondered if my heart meds might have caused it I had blood tests a couple of days ago and my serum ferritin was over 600 (range 30-150). My gp said it was acceptable but I’ve queried it as I was anaemic 6 months ago and needed infusions. Since then I’ve been put on entresto and Dapa and it’s now through the roof. The gp has agreed to retest in 4 weeks and said that thinks like iron levels are very unstable but had no idea why mine had shot up.
I do wonder if the heart meds are impacting on things. Hopefully we will both get answers soon. 🙂
my blood tests came up high heamoglobin and high platelets. Having tests.
thanks.
