My husband had a sudden heart attack a year ago and has recovered well , feeling good in general. However, ever since the heart attack his bloods haven’t been right - in particular high haematocrit and haemoglobin. The gps haven’t been concerned but have now referred him to the haematologist.
We are trying not to look at the worst case scenarios and wondering if it could be linked to the meds he’s on or the actual heart attack/heart function
Anyone have any experiences?

had a Heart attack 6 years ago and fell into heart failure last year. Haemoglobin level raised at recent health check. Awaiting results from follow up blood test. Unsettling, could be this, could be that. Just have to wait and see.
Breathlessness when walking up moderate incline and palpitations. Medics like to check ankles for swelling (fluid retention), mine were OK. Echo cardiogram showed ejection factor in mid 20s. Meds have improved that to high 30s.Cheers
Not yet as gp said not to worry but I’m going to ask cardiologist as my echo showed slight thickness of the heart ie enlargement heart and enlarged valve and slight hypertrophy.
