Yesterday my. hankering for warmer climes grew too much and so as it is difficult for me to get ‘fit to fly’ certification we looked at cruises from a UK port. We found a cruise line willing to allow an oxygen concentrator on board and we found an oxygen supply company, for a reasonable price. Then came travel insurance! Staysure led me through what seemed like hundreds of questions, often overlapping or inappropriate to my current conditions but I went along with it as I have had insurance with them last year. However, Staysure will not allow a quote for a single holiday unless you you know EXACTLY where you are going and the actual dates so I was trying for cover for a full year. Anyway, after almost an hour, they rejected me and refused to give me cover. VERY annoying. Also it was annoying to hear that they consider some conditions ‘lifelong’ and will be included in any assessment regardless of current status!! I think the fact that I had a stent fitted within the last year was what tipped it over the edge because otherwise, I still have HF. Kidney impairment and the respiratory problems that I had last year.
I am going to try to get holiday dates and places but will be trying a different insurance company for sure, not Staysure😄

In spite of many people on here recommending Staysure they also rejected me last year and I thought they were being a bit picky. However Allclear would insure me at a reasonable premium so I suggest you try them. Or a comparison site for travel insurance with pre-existing health conditions as a start point. Or a local insurance broker.
Hi I feel your pain trying to get insurance, when I was waiting on a transplant and I also have other medical issues, it was a nightmare. a company called Insurancewith.com insured me to go to Spain, they specialise in pre existing conditions. I use them all the time now so it might be worth giving them a phone. I have never claimed so I couldn't say what they were like in that respect.I hope you get insurance as it is so lovely to get away for a few weeks take care char
I do suggest you pick a cruise, if you used a travel agent they could put a hold on it rather than making the booking confirmed then get travel insurance. Then confirm booking.
I count my blessings as I remained paying for a group insurance that I joined while still working so they will cover me and my ailments until I am 70!!
However my sister who has been relatively well had to have her spleen and part of her pancreas removed followed by some chemo and is struggling to get cover.
Sometimes travel insurance makes no sense but you can't leave home without it!!
