my husband is in hosp after AVR surgery& single bypass, & as a way of relaxing I got into my daughters hot tub. I had NStemi & 5 stents 7 months ago.
Lovely at the time, but getting into bed felt v breathless, uncomfortable& niggley pains. Felt unwell all day yesterday& very nervous.
Spent 1 he 15 mins in HT, probably far too long, have also been under a lot of stress since the OHS on Thurs.
Could the hot tub have effected my heart please!
I would say that the stress relating to your husband is far far more likely the issue. I think generally, stress is not considered enough as a factor in heart problems. Probably because it's difficult to measure.
Yes it could have been the hot tub. In most spas there are signs above them saying to check with a doctor if you have a heart condition before use.The heat can lower blood pressure, but it also increases heart rate, and the humidity can make the lungs work harder as well.

Interesting comment about humidity and lungs. Presumably you can't get more than 100% which is something we often get here on the coast. Low cloud is well known to affect Heart Patients.
As For Maidenhead, as CB says, in spas there are very large warning notices about entering them if you have a heart condition. Your anxiety will make things worse but if your health hasn't returned to normal within another 24 hours or so I would try a chat either with your GP or your Cardiac nurse. The chances are you will be fine once things have normalised after a bit of time has elapsed and you stop feeling so nervous.
I was told no sauna or steam room. I so miss the steam room!

I had quad bypass almost 5 months ago ,I been on holiday the last 10 days in lanzarote, prior to going on holiday I contacted my cardio nurse about swimming on holiday and use of spa she told me swimming pool okay up to waist and not to submerge to long as water pressure against chest is not good and she said under no circumstances go in hot tub as that's a definitely a no no and can really effect blood pressure so maybe hot tub is go blame I made sure I did as cardio nurse said and had no issues

Definitely, I was advised by my Nurse to NOT use mine but if I couldn't resist only for 15minutes, they stimulate the heart too much
I had undiagnosed cardiomyopathy and I used a hot tub for the first and last time, I felt awful, lightheaded and unwell, strangely enough we had been to Iceland and I had been swimming in the blue lagoon and I felt the exact same and had to get out, after a few hours I felt ok, after that I never used saunas, steam room or tubs. I never in my wildest dreams thought it was my heart but I was told otherwise on diagnosis. I would definitely check with cardiac nurse or GP before I used one again. Char
Hello, HA and a stent for me back in Sept 22. Recently on holiday and went in hot tub on and off and was fine until I stayed in for long duration, over an hour. Fine when in hot tub but gasping for air on coming out. Felt dizzy so laid down flat and felt better. Did my BP and it was 80/50! Think the heat causes massive vasodilation, and consequently heart in over drive to keep up oxygenating major organs, BP drops and HR goes up. Was very tired and had muggy head after the event so took to bed and felt normal a day later. Hope you feel better soon and maybe it’s just a toe dip for us now when we do hot tubs. 😁❤️

I love my hot tub it's very relaxing and I've never had any problems often having a hour lying back and enjoying the warmth and bubbles
Nobody has ever warned me not to use it and I've had three ablations and 2 stents .
I will ask my cardiologist but hope he will say carry on it's harmless
