Does anyone have any views on clonidine. I was prescribed for high BP and hot flushes. I also have a MVP. Still getting palpitations.

I was prescribed this last week for hot flashes 2 tabs morn and night. Not felt any reduction in sweats. I went back yesterday and she increased it to 2 tabs, three times a day. I’m desperate for it to work, the sweating is horrible it pours down through my hair and down my face. So embarrassing! Please let me know how you get on x

Is the medication you're taking for menopausal hot flushes?

It’s originally for blood pressure I think but can also be used for hot flushes. Works brilliant for some people but not for others. I am one of the others!

Iv suffered for 2 and half years now. The sweats are during the day nearly every 2 hours. So embarrassing, exhausting and depressing. I think these tablets have reduced the amount per day but not stopped x

I'm interested in your post because I still get horrendous hot flushes 15 years post menopause. At least I assume they're menopause related. I have Afib.

No one seems to be able to advise. If I ask gp or cardiologist if it's just menopause or to do with the heart they just shrug and say cut down on COFFEE! I dont drink coffee at all. There is no help fed up with suffering

I had a consultation with a gynecologist last month and she's prescribed low-dose HRT patches but apparently there's a shortage of this, no supplies expected till mid September.

I average 4 flushes an hour, 24/7. They're debilitating and at times make me dizzy and feel faint. I hate them, they're a blight on my life. So I sympathize with you.

Poor you that is horrendous. I want to stop working because of them but cant afford to. It affects my job with meeting people and going to meetings. My face and neck go bright red burning then I sweat profusely.

Dr says I can’t have HRT. It would only be Estrogen in my case as I’ve had a hysterectomy. I agree the flushes are debilitating and embarrassing if you are in company. I also tried black cohosh (herbal) but it was hopeless too. There just seems there is nothing to help!
