Not the day I originally planned......

Hi EveryoneI fell off a step ladder putting the Christmas decorations away yesterday. I have no idea why I fell off the ladder was secure & I had already been up & down it a couple of times without incident.

Next thing I know I am falling off & to the side thinking 'why am I falling off?' It wasn't the bump on my head, the pain in my little toe or the shock that had me screaming out but the pain in my chest and the feeling that I had been smacked in my jaw. It did indeed feel as though something heavy had landed on my chest (I now get that question re crushing pain)

Having got myself up & trying to calm down, I took a spray of GTN - which helped but the pain was still grim. Called 999 and long story short off we went to A&E. ECG good, BP good, but waves of pain that brought tears still coming from bottom left hand side of heart. Got released around 6pm having had bloods checked - all good, toe strapped up & bruised bump on head. However my chest is still extremely painful - doesn't react to prodding or particular movement but feels as though I have been punched from the back to the front and under my arm.

I have had a nasty cough and cold over Christmas and in the final stage of this. My heart monitor shows a high heart spike just before I fell. This makes trip number 10 within 13 months.

Glad to be home & in one piece - but frustrated that we don't seem to be any closer to finding out why I am having these episodes. Waiting on CT scan and contrast angiogram.

And yes I did get the decorations put away........ Hoping we all have a better day today.

wow that sounds so scary, it does sound like heart attack to me but it could also be a torn muscle or cracked rib from the fall . Stay off ladders 😂

It still needs to go back into the garage....but I think I'll leave that job for a day or two.

definitely scary, as you’ve been to hospital you very much hope they’ve checked you out and all is ok BUT I’m sure you’ll not hesitate to go back or ring GP if doesn’t improve. Well done for being efficient though and getting the decorations put away. Hope improves very soon and you get your angiogram and scan soon too.

Thanks Fishface101 - hopefully scan will be around March. In the meantime I will try to stay out of A&E ....

Hello :-)

You must have been in shock falling like that

I am glad you got yourself checked out and they found everything was ok

Maybe you pulled yourself as you fell it is easily done and can leave you in pain

I hope you get an appointment soon to get that scan and angiogram done so you can get an answer to what is causing your issues the waiting can be the worst

Let us know how you get on :-) x
