Dear MrsP0518
Hello to you and your first { we hope } of many posts.
We hope that you find this forum as supportive and interesting as we do and that it helps with answers to some of life's challenging questions.
Walking has been a total lifesaver for me, due to a combination of circumstances I have been told that this is about as hard as I can push my heart, for a once extremely fit man { externally } this was devastating news.
After sulking away for a little while I began a walking program { basically got off my spreading bottom, opened the door and away I went } it changed my whole aspect on my illness and life, dramatic ? yes it has been, both physically and mentally .
It has helped me balance out my weight and thoughts, my dog helps immensely , she is one of those that just loves outside, be that snow wind or rain.
I have booked some private tests in the new year { re-hab still not forthcoming for me } to see just how much I can push my heart { I would settle for a slight sweat on at the moment }
Walking has helped me lift a corner on my blanket of depression.
Merry Christmas to you, I hope that my answer helped in anyway
Love it, particularly in the rain. Since I had to drop more intense exercise 10K steps is my daily target.
Might not sound a lot to many fit-fiends here, but it keeps me well, and out of A and E.
"How does walking make you feel?"
Wonderful!
Here's a favourite local walk of ours taken during the recent cold snap.
It's particularly topical for so close to the winter solstice, as it's an ancient path that would have linked the coastal settlements of the Solent to Stonehenge.
Every time I walk this route I'm conscious not just of the beauty of the landscape but the humbling fact that ours are just the latest footsteps in an unbroken line stretching back thousands of years!
in pain and tired with a burning / heavy chest and shortness of breath 😁 I know what you meant with the post and not being negative just a little cheeky. Walking is therapeutic for the soul, mind and body whatever the speed and distance. One day I hope to be like that again. So if you can, do it!
