Good Morning.

I haven’t any knowledge re beta blockers but someone else today mentioned they suffered from VitaminB12 deficiency which causes extreme fatigue, this made me wonder whether you might have a deficiency of some kind.

It could be worth asking your GP for investigatory blood tests to try to find out if your meds are causing you to be unable to absorb a nutrient that you are now deficient in .

I hope you get some help .

Best wishes

Thank you for your reply o have been tested for iron and b12 deficiency all OK. The fatigue is caused by the heart block but it's unbearable 😭

I have a pacemaker for Mobitz type 2, but it isn't related to beta blockers. For about a year before having my pacemaker fitted, I was feeling exactly as I expect you are now - extremely tired and lightheaded with bouts of dizziness. In the end, I blacked out and had to be taken to hospital where they fitted the pacemaker as an emergency.

All I can say is to try to take it as easy as possible and stop and take five if you are feeling really bad. Once you have your pacemaker, your life will change, and you will be back to living an active life within a few weeks. You'll start to feel better immediately.

Do you have a date for your pacemaker? Perhaps they can make it sooner if you are feeling really awful. I am surprised they are making you wait, because Mobitz Type 2 is a very serious condition.

It might be an idea not to drive when you are feeling at your worst - the last thing you want is to blackout at the wheel.

I hope all goes well - the pacemaker will give you a new lease of life.

I don't have a date yet for the pacemaker I have to have a 72 hour ambulatory first from 17th November and an ecocardiogram then I will get the date for my surgery. My consultant said being on beta blockers makes the condition worse so they want to see how things are of the beta blockers before they fit the pacemaker withing 6 weeks. I haven't passed out yet but I get dizzy spells often worse when I'm stressed. My consultant didn't really explain anything luckily my gp is very good and explained everything once they had the diagnosis of my consultant. I just hope it's sooner rather than later so I can get back to normal life. Thanks for your reply gives me hope there's a light at the end of the tunnel 🙏.

Hello, just come across your post.

I am 28 and have recently been told I have mobitz 2 av block. I may need a pacemaker but they want to do an implantable loop recorder first to pick up on how regularly it’s happening due to my age.

Do you mind me asking what sort of symptoms you have?

Thanks so much and take care.

My Mobitz type 2 was diagnosed 18-years ago and treated with a pacemaker.

I'm now on number two and looking to number three in 2025.

I don't recall tiredness being a symptom i.e. sleepy or fatigued, but certainly remember the total lack of response to exercise of any sort. I likened this to what it must feel like to be on Everest without oxygen. Everything was struggle.

However, recently, some of the symptoms are back again and probably due to increased ectopics and slow erratic pulse that the pacemaker can't cope with.

But that's another story.
