Quick run down of my situation. I have gallbladder sludge and am having gallbladder out mid Nov and also have arrhythmias/tachycardia which needs no treatment, and have been discharged by cardiologist. Staysure/Avanti will not cover me until I have had my surgery( which I understand) but will not cover my arrhythmia as having a cholecystectomy invalidates it! However if I were having a hip replacement, ( for example) they would cover the arrhythmia!! I am angry and confused and really do not understand, but have to accept their conditions.

Has anyone dealt with this before - if so, who did they use for travel insurance?

Also am now concerned that having an arrhythmia, which needs no treatment has probably scupppered my insurance for good!

Just a thought, now a days with the advent of "on line" insurance policy buying folk have stopped using traditional insurance brokers.

It may well be worth taking a look in your yellow pages, finding a broker and discussing your needs with them.

I have used a broker before and have been very happy with the policies they have obtained for me, they have also been invaluable when assisting with a claim.

Thank you BridBoy.

I am certainly going to look around. I am just totally flummoxed as to why why a cholecystectomy invalidates covering an arrhythmia, but having a hip replacement does not!

I know this is not your question but I'd like to know about gallbladder sludge. Do you have much pain with it? Mine was discovered during scans for diverticulitis and they wanted to remove my gallbladder. However, I just have niggles now and then, so refused surgery. Fingers crossed I made the right decision.

Hi, I had abdo pain, mainly right side but not always so GP sent me for an ultrasound which found the gallbladder full of sludge and crystals 😟 I get a range of symptoms - niggling, stinging, throbbing and pain can go round to my back. Also have a strong family history of gallbladder issues. Hope I have made the right decision as well, but as surgeon said it is not going get better so best to remove 🤞

Thanks. I think you have probably made the right decision. Maybe I would have agreed to surgery if mine gave me that much trouble.

I do not have your conditions but I have several other conditions. I found Alpha Travel Insurance the best for cover and price. Try them to see if they can cover you. Good luck
