I find that some times my pulse rate drops to 38 , this seems very low. I am taking bisoprolol and candesartan. I don’t feel faint. Anyone have this?

What are you measuring your pulse on? I was using an oximeter and getting a similar result to you, then I realised that because I have Atrial Fibrillation it wasn't recording all of my beats properly. May be an idea to check with your GP as that is a low rate if it's correct.

Hi, I was prescribed bisoprolol a three weeks ago, my pulse dropped to between 38 and 45. I went to docs on Monday this week and she said I was having a bad reaction to the meds. I came off it and pulse went back to normal. I have an appt with cardiologist to assess.

i had the same, I spoke with my doctor he took me off the bisoprolol and I had to do BP check twice a day for a week. It was all good so I am still off

Hi there - I’m on 1.25mg Bisoprolol and my already low heartbeat has dropped to about 41 on resting but I feel ok too so apart from checking with my GP and cardiologist and monitoring I’m not worrying about it too much.

cool yeah I feel ok. I know my cardiologist wants it low so my heart stays chilled.

yes, I had the same. when I first started on the HA meds my HR got down into the low 30’s while sat on the couch.

I had a very low resting HR before my HA so the meds really hit hard. I felt 100% fine but my Garmin was reading 32-34. I called the Cardiac unit and they weren’t bothered as long as I felt fine and it raised back up when moving round.

3 months later and my HR is low but seems to have normalised to 45-55 and a resting HR of 38-40.

Good luck :)

not on the same drugs but my heart rate is in the 40s. I had a yearly check and my heart rate was 42. They called me back in and it was 40. They said that they don't want to see it in the 30s.

i get head rush on standing up too fast but try and get up slowly but that's not always possible so end up hanging onto the door frame.

Go talk to your doctor. Have your meds reviewed.

We are all different. A heart rate of 38 or lower might be fine for some people but not others, according to their general health state and specific medical record. My advice is to discuss your condition with your GP or, if you have access, the cardiologist, to determine whether any adjustment to your meds is required or whether they are happy for you to continue as you are.

Hi - I have HCM and take bisoprolol. My heart rate was around 38 for first few months of starting bisoprolol. Cardiologist was not concerned. Even dropped in the 20's whilst sleeping! It is around 44 now at rest, so I guess after a while your heart seems to adjust. HCM tends to cause bradycardia (low pulse) anyway.

You could just check with your Cardiology nurse at the unit you are under. Best to check rate manually.

Pre-op they didn't want to put me on beta blockers as my heart rate was around 50 to 54 (I run a lot). But immediately post-op they stuck me on Bisoprolol and now the HR is around 44 to 48. Seems daft to me (also on water tablets despite no water retention and just started on Ramipril despite normal blood pressure) but I appreciate it's about other things the drugs do and about strengthening the heart now while it's kinda weak. I've not felt dizzy or anything so I can withstand it all but will be keeping a watchful eye on it all.
