Have CAD mild to moderate. Diagnosed 2 years ago. My BP is 116/82 pulse pressure 34. Should I see GP?
CAD and low pulse pressure. - British Heart Fou...
CAD and low pulse pressure.
Is it as low as 34 frequently, or is it a one off?
If it's not a one off reading, then 34 is definitely low, so I would say yes call your GP.
Thanks. Today its be 32 to 34. Will monitor for the weekend.
If you aren’t feeling well I would be inclined to call 111, if you feel ok I would still call GP on Monday.
Apologies, I was thinking pulse as in HR, should have read it properly!
Hi. Thanks both. Reason i was worried is nearly everything I've read say 40. Below that is a symptom of heart failure. Not something you expect to read. Being diagnosed with CAD was scarey enough. But you information has been welcome. Thanks.
Heart rate 72. Waking its low 60's. Used to be bit lower, but put on weight.... which am now slowly trying to loose.
Thanks for that reference. I will look it up. When I was younger I used to train heavily and cycle 20 mile round trip to work daily. But in my mid 30's onwards that changed to weight gain and bad diet. Now with CAD I am getting more active again. But the fear is there. Impressed at your accomplishment after a heart attack..
Sorry to jump in but you seem to be really knowledgeable about pulse pressure and it's the one thing my google skills are failing at.
When my BP is high my pulse pressure can be as low as 8, for example, my readings from the past half hour are: 139/131, 134/109, 122/92, 140/122, 147/125. I'm not on any meds (yet) and am a physically fit (ish), 46yr old lady, clean eating, plenty of good supplements etc. Possible thyroid issues (hyperthyroid) but GP's dismissed my BP readings as a machine fault yet when my BP is 'normal' I can have a pulse pressure of between 25-60.
Any ideas of good sites/ areas to research? I seem to be at a loss or should I be more concerned about the high diastolic pressure?
Cheers, and apologies again for butting in.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Really appreciate it.
It is strange but they happen so frequently in terms that I think they're vaguely accurate. I've always had low blood pressure, until recently, and readings of 80/60 were not uncommon for me.
That's definitely a good idea. Thanks for the boots tip too. I'll report back and let you know!
Not a lot of point doing all that exercise if you still smoke.
Fair enough, enjoy 👍my vice is coffee
The smoking causes fatty buildup in the arteries, my CAD was brought on when I was a child, mother died at 49 through heart disease, but both my parents chain smoked when my brother and I were children. In a car with both parents puffing away, windows closed, can you imagine what that was like at 10. Thats where the Heart disease came. My brother and I never personnally smoked but the damage was done by others.
So, turns out I'm a freak of nature. Had access to two other machines both of which have been used recently and never given spurious readings, until I used them. 140/128 from one and 132/125 on the other (did a few others and similar results but can't remember them offhand), at a different time. Both also gave normal readings when my blood pressure was more normal. Seems pulse pressure only reduces to crazy levels when my diastolic is high.
Read some of your posts below here and my blood pressure used to be similar to yours. Even when pregnant it was around 85/60!
