This year I’ve had 3 ‘episodes’ of fainting / being sick, due to sudden low BP. I have a blocked artery and have been taking meds since just before the pandemic - Ramipril, Bisoprolol, Simvastatin, aspirin, Ranozoline, Monomil. Today was one of those 3 episodes - fainted / sick mid morning - taken to A and E - got home at 6! Long day there. Tests they did showed nothing worrying. They told me to phone Cardiology tomorrow morning. I’m just a bit frightened.

Occasional very low BP
Hi123Molly, hopefully someone will be coming to help you soon. Try not to be too worried, I know that's easy for me to say. Definitely get in touch with the cardiologist or at least your doctor tomorrow and let them know. Good luck regards Sheena x
Thanks - trying not to worry! Just scared in case thi# happens again and I’m on my own, or driving or something. Planning to phone Cardiology early tomorrow.
Please let me know how you get on. X Sheena x
i hope Cardiology are helpful today. Doesn't sound a v good idea to drive while you have unexplained and sudden faints. Hopefully you will get some good advice and help v soon.
Spot on 👍
No one should be driving whilst they have sudden fainting occurrences due to the danger to themselves and perhaps others.. It is also possible that their insurance cover might be invalidated, especially if their condition is on their medical record.
Thanks. I hope I can get through to someone this morning 🤞
Let us know. I suffered from sudden blackouts for 30 years. Had many years where no one could find out why. Luckily technology moved on and when i had another in 2018 that resulted in a concussion I was referred to cardiology who fitted an implanted loop recorder. Within 3 weeks they found that i had a sinus rhythm issue whereby my heart chambers would get out of synch and my heart would stop for several second until it sorted itself out. Had a pacemaker fitted that year and has been fine ever since. Well apart from getting endocarditis and having OHS mitral valve repair this year. But that's a whole different issue covered elsewhere on here 😉
Ramipril, bisoprolol and monomil (Isosorbide mononitrate) are likely to lower your BP. Ranolazine is OK for some people, but it makes me nauseous and light headed.
I have lowish BP, and after I had a heart attack 2 years ago, they wanted me to take Ramipril but it lowered my BP too much as did isosorbide mononitrate.
So cardiology may change your meds.
I have been through the sort of worry you are experiencing. I have been to A&E more times than I care to think about. For me they did an ECG, blood test for Troponin and occasionally a chest X Ray.
This is mostly to determine if you have had an MI or any other sort of event which would warrant admitting you.
Were there any other triggers which might have caused the fainting?
For instance, I fainted after taking GTN spray once.
Has your dosage of any of those meds changed? Im on Bisoprolol and Ramipril and i had to monitor my blood pressure while the dosage of Ramipril was increased as they both lower your blood pressure. Try not to worry too much, they may just need to change of adjust your meds.
Ramipril, monomil and Bisoprolol can lower blood pressure. Please seek advice from your GP who can measure blood pressure standing and sitting and lying down to ascertain a diagnosis. They should also be aware if the doses were recently increased. Losing conscious ness and sickness can be a symptom of low blood pressure especially if it occurs on suddenly standing up. Regards.
Hi Hidden, Hows it going, hope that you have managed to get answers to your situation from Cardiology. I have always had low BP (90/60) and since my heart attack last year and three stents fitted I have been on Ramapril and Bisoprolol. I am on the lowest dose that you can take of both those drugs because cardiology do not want to lower my BP anymore than they have too. Like others have said you need to get it all checked out and also check about your car insurance. I do not drive anymore because of the possibility of my passing out at the wheel.
I also think that my local A&E have a special place for me at their department, I have been there so many times since January 2021.
Wishing you all the best
Regards
Jo
