Hi. I’ve got heart failure etc and I’ve gone with staysure. They weren’t cheap but comparable with others like Navigator and All Clear. Obviously I’ll only know how good they really are if I ever need to claim. Mine is worldwide cover excluding the US and Thailand and cruises, they will push the price up further. Shop around but list every single ailment. Good luck.
Travel insurance crops up very frequently on here, and Staysure and Allclear are usually mentioned. However there is no one size fits all since we are all different especially where several different medical conditions are present let alone the duration of cover and destinations. So I suggest you find a comparison site for travel insurance with pre-existing conditions and go from there.
Thank you
I've got 6 stents and use Staysure (for worldwide insurance including US/Canada). They ask how many stents you have 1, 2 or more than 2 in the medical questionnaire.
I have mine through my bank account. I have 2 stents and pay £155 extra for Worldwide travel up to 31 days including cruises. Also pay £75 extra for being over 70.
Ive just been to Canada on holiday. I used Tesco Travel insurance and their price was about a third of anywhere else. Seemed to be comparable standard of cover. They asked an additional question which was something along the lines of "have you have had chest pains since your last procedure but these have been investigated and the results been ok?"
I didnt have to make a claim so cant comment on how good they would be in that respect.
Thank you
Btw, I have 5 stents inserted 5 years ago at age 50. I agree with IanGordon about it not only being about the price, but it does play its part. My advice would be to check the levels of cover provided, make sure youve provided them with ALL your medical history and try and find reviews. Im sure some insurers charge more for the same cover, so make sure you do your research!
Any recommendation should realistically be based on claim handling efficiency and support experience rather than price.Medical treatment in the US is notoriously expensive so I would be dubious about seemingly bargain cover.
I've used Staysure and claimed, so I know they deliver.
