Heart medication withdrawals

Hello everyone,

i was in hospital for five nights recently with pre syncopal episodes and palpitations. My heart rate was quite low, especially at night. I was advised by the cardiology unit there to stop taking my medication.I was on 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol and ramipril which as I understand was mainly a precaution for family history.

I have now been off these for two weeks and I am having symptoms of lightheadedness, tremors, and breathlessness, particularly on exertion. Are these likely to be withdrawal symptoms or should I think about going back on the medication?

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Thanks!

Hello :-)

I totally understand feeling you are not sure what is happening and causing how you feel but I would talk either to my Consultant or Doctor before I did anything

I am really sorry I cannot say what to do on this one because only your Doctor can tell you so pick up that phone tomorrow and insist you at least speak to a GP tell them how you are feeling and that you just do not know what to do and need to speak to someone and it cannot wait

Please let us know how you get on :-) x

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I have contacted the GP but they can only contact the cardiologist to get them to contact me.

It’s all very disjointed. All I need is a 5 minute call with the cardiology team to discuss the medication so hopefully that won’t be too long.

The only thing keeping me somewhat sane is that the tests I had in hospital prior to being told to come off the medication were all relatively normal. xx

Hello :-)

It shows how important it can be with these medications and we get it right this is quite a normal procedure that even your Doctor won't make a decision without talking to the Consultant first

Several occasions mine has done this to over my medications

You do not have a letter from your Consultant with a number on it do you as you could phone their Secretary and let them know you need a call ? even though your Doctor has messaged them there is no harm trying to get yours through to

It is a positive though the result has come back normal hang on to that thought and I hope they get back to you soon and would still like to know what they say and how you are if you have time to reply :-) x

As above. Any concerns about the medication you have been prescribed should be addressed to your GP or specialist consultant.

Thank you for replying. I have tried to get in contact with the cardiology department so hopefully they will get back to me soonish :)

Hi Pepsidave, although your post was some time ago can you share the outcome. I am in a similar situation with cardiology stopping my bisoprolol three days ago.

Thanks
