Heart medication and Lovothyroxine

I take 75mcg Lovothyroxine but it doesn't seem to be enough as I've started having the symptoms of the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis that I was diagnosed with some years ago. I was diagnosed with heart failure and AF a few years ago and take a lot of heart medication. Is it not good for my heart to have the Lovothyroxine increased? My TSH result is within the nhs guidelines even although I'm struggling. Thank you for any help. Very much appreciated.

That drug can certainly affect the heart but only your physicians can tell you whether you should increase the dose or not.

I was put on Levothyroxine when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism some years back. Unfortunately I could never remember to take it at the appropriate time as I have very weird sleep habits. I found a study and figured I hadn't been taking in enough iodine so ordered some nascent iodine drops (better absorbed) and interestingly my TSH became mid normal. I now still take the drops but not daily, just enough to keep my levels in the normal range and the doctor dropped the Levothyroxine order.

Wow I've never heard of that.

The thyroid meds have potassium in them as 1 type of iodine and you need to time this with the heart meds..as it can cause some quicker heartbeats..at least in my case..if you look at the med check for levo and your meds to check for interactions / compatibility you may get some answers there...or ask you medical team to check...much quicker if you check yourself..best of luck...

Oh I never knew that. I've not been able to find a meds checker interaction list. I wanted to check all my heart meds with the Lovothyroxine.
