My BP is now under relatively good control with medication. I also have been prescribed Propoponol (Betablocker) (10 mg a twice a day) for situational anxiety and I notice great improvement in my health and the way I feel.
My heart rate has now slipped to around 55 to 59 bpm - I have no symptoms of dizziness etc and wondered if anyone has a lower heart rate due to medication and is this level ok? I am not an athlete but I am walking around an hour a day and feel so much fitter.
I am taking a beta blocker (among other things) and my heart rate is usually around 60 bpm, which causes no problems. If the walking is making you fitter, this could reduce your heartrate possibly?
Hello you have answered a question for me in your reply to Bp120 I’ve been on sotolol for many years (arrhythmia) SVT small dose 40mg 1 daily along with amlodipine 10mg bought a oximetre this year just as a caution with Covid but have noticed my HR when resting usually in the 50’s I spoke to my GP couple of weeks ago as I was having ectopics and mentioned to her about this she wasn’t concerned saying being on a beta blocker would account for this as much as anything she has referred me for 24hr ecg but pleased to read your message when you know other people are experiencing same issues so thank you hope your staying well 😊
I wouldnt worry , since meds my resting rate is 45 and i get my watch alarm going off during the night when it drops below 37. I feel fine and doctors arent concerned.
Matt, my Garmin alarm goes off periodically and was guessing because it had fallen below a specific number, but couldn't find out what the number was. My Omron BP monitor won't give me a reading if below 40 BPM. Is your watch a Garmin?
I'm on beta blockers and my resting HR (as in lying quietly in bed) is around 44. I have heard that depending on the person, Bradycardia (v. low HR) can be a problem, but my doctors aren't really worried. My BP is also aroun 95/60 so I have to be careful standing up...sometimes I do get random dizzy spells which worry me a bit.
Hi all, this is my first post, it's a great forum. I was diagnosed with AF at the beginning of the year and was put on Edoxaban anti-coagulant and Bisoprolol (beta blocker), also Losartan for BP. The beta blocker sent my HR (resting rate is usually 50-60 beats per minute) down to the mid-40s and I felt tired and dizzy, so GP told me only to take it when my HR went up, which it certainly does in the episodes of AF. So far, this 'pill in the pocket' approach has worked well. From earlier posts, I guess it was me feeling dizzy and tired that made her take me off it as a daily dose; she mustn't have been particularly concerned with the actual low 40s HR. I'm eighty BTW. Keep well all! Brenda
