Hi there, has anyone had the resilia valve at LGI? I understand its not available everywhere, but the mechanical option is a non starter for my partner. If so, did you have to fight for it or was it a straightforward option?
Thanks in advance everyone x

Hi. I am due to have the Edwards Resilia Valve at Wythenshawe Hospital (Manchester). That doesnt answer your question but I would contact the Consultant's Secretary to ask whether it will be available for your partner. I didnt want the mechanical valve either. I thought I would have to fight for the Edwards valve but my surgeon agreed to it straightaway. Good luck with it xx
I had the Edwards Inspiris Resilia Aortic Valve fitted on the 27/2/20 at the Nottingham City Hospital. It was arranged by my surgeon. Despite being just over 55yrs, like yourself, it was the appropriate option for me due to me requiring a replacement rising aorta.
I had aortic valve replaced 2/5/2020. All heart hospitals in London and South East were closed due to pandemic. So I paid for a private op in a private hospital. The surgeons recommended a Edwards Resilia so that’s what I now have onboard.
I think this suggests theEdwards Resilia is the best choice available.
I hear that the latest Edwards Resilia has an option for a later TAVi if necessary.
