Any recent ops using inspiris Resilia aortic valve?

Are operations using the Edwards inspiris Resilia valve to replace heart valve still ongoing in UK. I had the op 2 years ago at Harefield (as only 54 yrs old and active ) and appear to be doing ok so far.

Haven’t seen any comments in past Year about it’s use though!

Short answer = yes! I had Edwards Inspiris implanted last June. I asked for this valve and no-one queried. Sister had same in Southampton last May.

I requested one (my surgeon had mentioned it in a letter) but on day of surgery I was told it was not suitable for my heart!!??

So what did you end up with? Did they do a last-minute test or something, that showed it wasn't suitable? I've requested the Inspiris Resilia for my upcoming op, and they've said OK. I wonder what made your surgeon change their mind . . . .

Yes I did have Inspiris Resilia valve fitted June 2018 and appears to be working fine. Due for mri scan in June,so will see how it’s doing then. Good to know that they are still being recommended.

Can do strenuous walks and controlled circuit training without becoming too breathless! Fingers crossed it it is the right decision.

(What really focussed my mind recently was that my mum who was on warfarin bumped her head (without carers realising) and she had a large subdural haematoma as a result. She passed on few hours later....I’m always bumping my head as am v tall and so v happy with my decision.

Sorry for your loss.

You seem to be doing well on the Resilia valve! Sorry to hear about your mum - the warfarin issue is something that I'm motivated to avoid. I'm not very good at sticking to routines or regular monitoring. . . . My message above was actually directed at Supernanu - who'd been denied the Resilia at the last minute. I was keen to hear what had happened at that very last moment. Was the op done - and if so, with which alternative valve?

Apologies SpareNib, realised your question was directed at Supernanu just after I posted to you ! Doh! Best wishes

No worries - interested to hear how the Resilia works out. Did you get the version where a TAVI can be performed in the event of the valve deteriorating in the future?

Hi SpareNib, I had 27mm aortic valve fitted. This size is too big to allow for a TAVI and would have to be OHS if it deteriorated. Sizes below this are ok for TAVI however perhaps in years to come they will find a way to do TAVI for this size ( but not holding my breath)

Hi, glad you have been OK with it. Yes, asked for and operation set for Monday. Phew scared... Final pre op tomorrow at Harefield.

You’re in safe hands at Harefield. Received great care from them.

Hi Tessie28. I'm down for the same at Harefield - probably later this year, so I'll follow your progress with interest. Best of luck!

Hi I had one fitted in September. It has been a life changing event and works great. I no longer feel tired and can exercise comfortably. Regards frank
