It's one month short of three years since I had a triple bypass in 2019. As far as I can tell I don't have any issues, but for another condition, it would be beneficial if I took some supplements. I do recall when I was first learning about my life post op there was a potential problem with certain supplementation. I think to do with blood clotting? What was that?

Care WIth Vitamins
If you have any queries about taking a 'supplement' in relation to the impact it may have on any medication you take or medical condition you have,,you should talk to your prescribing health professional which is likely your GP.
I asked pharmacy and gave them my medication list, they phoned someone who recommended supplements based on medication list and my health. I went to gp and when she put supplements on computer, they were red flagged. Not suitable. Best to check with gp before taking anything, also add it to your medication list, so if you go to hospital, they can see it as well. Unfortunately, natural doesn't mean safe. Keep safe. Moni
It’s maybe vitamin k you are thinking about as it’s included in most multivitamin tablets.
Dear willsie01
Nothing beats a good diet to get all the body needs in it vitamins, supplements are useful during winter months and should only be added after consulting your Gp.
There are many claims out there {snake oil sales persons} that this or that is needed to aid recovery, if they were true the NHS would supply them as they are normally a lot cheaper than the drugs that are prescribed.
Being Vegan I have to make sure that I take certain supplements, the main one being B12 and a form of omega 3 , this was well before the heart thing and has been passed by the cardiologist to continue taking them.
Some swear by extra vit c and d but again this has to be put to your Dr and remember if you choose to take them {after taking advice} make sure you know exactly the vitamins you are taking, all vitamins tablets/powders are not the same, some are so over processed that they contain very little of there original and stated potency, other are so badly made that all they will do is pass through you. Lots of vitamins are fat soluble, so you have to make sure you are taking fat in your diet.
Supplements are a total nightmare to get right.
Take care
I do work on a good diet post bypass! In fact I went vegan, so also supplement with B12. As I’m prescribed a PPI I use oral sprays, which appears to work as my recent blood tests show my B12 as being top of required range. Omega 3 also in range as is vitamin D. There are no fillers in a spray and the ones I use have water as a carrier.
It looks like you have done your homework, well done and good luck with the Vegan diet.Take care
I only use Magnesium Taurate
I have osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and I take prescribed calcium with vitamin D3. In order to ensure the calcium goes into the bones. I started taking vitamin K2 MK7, but I am on Clopidogrel blood thinner, so I have had to stop taking the K2 at the suggestion of the health product adviser at Holland and Barrett. I hope this helps in some way.
